"When I called for an estimate I was surprised at how quickly Mr. Straus was able to come. I knew the carpeting I wanted and he was able to get it in a reasonable time. (The carpet had to be run specially by the manufacturer.) When my remodel slowed down, he was very flexible about re-scheduling the date of installation to meet my new needs. Carpet Stretching FAQs, answered by experts

Use baking soda and vinegar or shaving cream to fix your carpet stains. But if you prefer a quicker solution, rent a carpet shampooer and use an enzyme-based cleaner to treat and resolve your discolored carpet issue.

The best solvent for removing carpet glue depends on its chemical composition. Most carpet glue reacts well to a solvent made from orange oil. Use mineral spirits to remove tar-based glue, which has a darker, brownish tint. Methylene chloride paint stripper and lacquer thinner should also work, but beware of the nasty and dangerous fumes.

Frequent vacuuming and spot cleaning, plus periodic deep cleaning to preserve condition.

Through accurate measurements and dye matching to the original finishes.

When deciding whether to repair or replace your carpet, consider its age, the extent of the damage, and its location. It's often best to replace the entire carpet if the damage is extensive, such as large sections needing replacement, or if it's caused by water, which can lead to mold problems. Similarly, if your carpet is nearing a decade old, replacement is likely the more logical choice. On the other hand, consider repairing your carpet if the damage is localized to one spot, like minor rips or snags, the carpet is still relatively new, or the damage is in a low-traffic area of your home.
