"Luis and his team were very professional and efficient in getting the work done. I had new electrical outlets added, upgrades completed in a bedroom, and outlets installed for a TV and electric mounted fireplace with no visible plugs. Everything looks clean and seamless. Highly recommend! They also installed flat LED ceiling lighting & a in both the bedroom and living room and a fandilier, which turned out great. The owner personally made sure to contact me when his crew was on their way, which I really appreciated. I would definitely use them again and have already reached out for another home project!"

"The gates I had him install to childproof my staircase would not have worked on my staircase because of the weird structure of the gate fasteners without him buying something at the hardware store to do it. I say this to show how creative he is at solving installation problems and how devoted he is to succeeding at a job. He did a great job. I highly recommend him."

"REVIEW: A-Lite Install of Security Camera System We had a 4K Five Camera Lorex Security System installed on the outside of our one-story house. In addition to the exterior cameras, the system included a NVR which provided the capability to store the data locally and to view the camera outputs on our 4k TV as the display, and over the internet on our mobile phones, as well as store the data locally on a 2TB recorder. A-lite Electric did the installation. At the start before receiving the bid, a Tech came out to carefully look over the house, including: the location of the cameras, the attic in which the cables would be run and the in-house location of the NVR and display. During our discussion I mentioned an area inside the attic which was difficult to traverse because of the location of a fragile heating duct. He determined that it would not be a problem. Two techs did the installation. They were knowledgeable, careful, helpful, and through. To insure waterproofing, they secured the cameras beneath the eaves, applying caulk to the camera base where it attached to the rough exterior stucco walls and to where the cables passed through the outer house walls. In the interior, they ran the many cables required through a cord cover kit that looks like it was part of the house and is hardly noticeable. Cables were also run through the attic from the NVR to the TV and so that the system could be set up, viewed and controlled from that location--all holes were caulked The techs helped to adjust the cameras to cover the desired areas and the system as displayed on the TV worked beautifully covering the desired exterior areas. We couldnâ  t be happier with the installation by the techs from A-lite, and the resulting performance of the security system."

The average cost to hire a handyman ranges from about $40 to $140 per hour. Average project cost ranges between $180 and $700, but the cost per hour and per project depends heavily on the type, size, and complexity of the project. The pro’s experience level and your location also factor into how much a handyman charges per hour or per project. You can also expect to pay higher rates or additional fees for emergency services, or around periods of high customer demand, like holidays.
It’s important to ask an electrician a few questions before you commit to hiring them so you can make an informed decision as a consumer. If you’re getting estimates or considering hiring an electrician, ask them these questions:
Are you a full-time electrician?
Are you bonded, licensed, and insured?
What level of experience do you have as an electrician?
Can you please share three references?
Do you do residential or commercial electrical work?
What kinds of electrical work are you most familiar with?
Will any subcontractors be performing the work?
Are permits and inspections required?
Who is responsible for obtaining permits and inspections?
What is your schedule?
Do you offer a guarantee or warranty on your work?
Will you sign a do-not-exceed clause to keep the job within the budget?
Yes, you should get a quote or an estimate from an electrician. Most electricians offer free estimates or quotes. When getting quotes, do your research and verify each electrician’s license. Get quotes from three different electricians to compare. If the prices or items listed appear different on the quotes, ask the electrician to clarify. Learning as much as you can about the electrical work you want done will help you get the most accurate estimate.
Qualified, licensed electricians will charge from $50 to $100 per hour. The cost to hire an electrician for emergency visits may range from $100 to $200 per hour because this urgent service usually takes place during off hours and may require an electrician to leave or reschedule jobs they’re currently working on. Scheduling work on holidays or during periods of high customer demand, like after a major storm, will also lead to higher rates or extra fees.
Yes, you should hire a handyman who’s licensed, certified, and insured, if possible. States have different requirements for handyman licensing, registration, and certifications. If licensing is required in your area, you may pay more for a licensed handyman with experience than one who is not licensed or certified, but you’re likely to get a better end result for your project. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local handymen guidelines.
