Customers say: True professional

"We decided to remodel our outdated bathroom, and McCormick Home Builders was a fantastic choice. Khaled and the team delivered high-quality work within the timeline and our budget. Every detail, from the tile work to the lighting, was beautifully done. They communicated well throughout, keeping us informed at every step, and the end result was truly a spa-like bathroom we can enjoy daily. We’d love to work with them again!"

"I can’t thank Shelley and her team enough for all the help they gave me. After my husband passed, his tools were all over the garage, and my sons wanted to keep them. I really needed someone who could not only organize everything but also help me figure out what to get rid of. Shelley and her husband were just wonderful. They didn’t rush me, and they took the time to help me make decisions about what to keep, what to donate, and what needed to go. They even cleaned out the entire garage! I was amazed at how much better it looked and how much space we gained. As someone who is disabled, having so much clutter in the garage was really hard for me. Now, my car fits in there just fine, and I can walk around without any trouble. It’s such a relief to have the garage back to a place where I can actually use it. Shelley was kind, patient, and really knew what she was doing. If you need help getting things organized, I can’t recommend her enough. She went above and beyond in every way."

"I couldn’t be happier with the work done on my home. He was professional, thorough, and clearly takes pride in doing things the right way. What started as a repair to the flashing and paneling turned into an even better result than I expected, he went above and beyond and even replaced the vent above the paneling, which really shows the level of care he brings to his work. The finished result looks fantastic, and the repair blends in beautifully with the rest of the house. He was careful, responsive, and made sure everything was done properly from start to finish. It’s hard to find someone who is this reliable, skilled, and detail-oriented. I would absolutely recommend him for any job from small to big— he can do it all. I’m very grateful for the quality of his work and will gladly call him again for future projects."

Closets questions, answered by experts

A "reach-in pantry" is a smaller, cabinet-style pantry that allows you to grab items by simply reaching inside. On the other hand, a "walk-in pantry" is like a closet or small room that offers a larger space that you can physically enter to get your food. Walk-in pantries allow for more customizable shelving. A reach-in pantry is usually around 5 feet wide by 2 feet deep, while a walk-in pantry is closer to 5 feet by 5 feet or larger.

Although you can complete a closet frame in just an afternoon, finishing the entire closet will take a few days to a week. However, that’s still not as much as the average time it takes to remodel a closet, which can take anywhere from several weeks to more than a month. That’s because you also have to consider the time it will take to demolish the existing space, plan a new design, order materials, and actually install it.

If you’re on a tight budget, the least expensive material you can buy for DIY closet shelves is chipboard, a.k.a. particle board. This inexpensive material is made from a pulp of sawdust, resin, and glue that’s pressed together under high temperature and pressure. As you can imagine, it’s not very sturdy and might buckle under your blue jean collection, so you should only use it if you’re storing very light items.

There are a few reasons custom closets are expensive: materials used, the luxury factor, and time to build. The people who can afford custom closets are those who can afford increased rates, and construction workers and contractors know this and charge accordingly. The time to build custom closets is substantial, especially if expensive material is being used or intricate details (like carved wood) are added to the project.

Custom furniture can provide more efficient storage and maximize resources.
