"The Terminix people were easy to work with and did a great job. The sub contractor hired, Amtech Wildlife Management, got rid of my bat problem but charged $5,800 for less than total of 8 hrs work. I was at least able to talk him doen to $5,000. The materials used were about 4ft of 3ft wide blk fiberglas window screen, 4 cans of expanding foam, and gorrilla tape (duct Tape)-- all of which I sell down at the hardware store. And a spray repellent that last for about two weeks. This is what I got for $633 an hour!!"

Pest Control questions, answered by experts

The purpose of a wasp is as a predator to maintain balance in ecosystems. Wasps prey on many insects, including other wasps, spiders, caterpillars, flies, beetles, and more. Without wasps, these insects may become overpopulated. Some wasps also help pollinate, which can be beneficial to your garden.

No, mulch itself does not necessarily attract termites even though it’s usually made of shredded wood. Some types of mulch like cedar or cypress resist termites because they’re toxic or unappetizing to the wood munchers. However, when the mulch is deep enough, say three inches or more, it creates a perfect habitat for insects of all kinds to build nests.

In most cases, a mother bird will return to a disturbed nest after the disturbance has passed. However, it can be hard for a mother bird to find a relocated nest. So, while it’s false that a mother bird will abandon her nest if it’s been disturbed, it’s not a good idea to relocate a nest with live babies or eggs in it.

High-frequency bird repellent devices are effective at driving away birds, which is their intended purpose. However, these devices also tend to have unintended negative consequences. For example, if you or your neighbors own pets, the high-pitched noise emitted by these electronic devices will cause them distress and may even make them aggressive.

Yes, it’s possible to have bed bugs and not find them because they hide in small spaces outside of mattresses, including baseboards, headboards, electrical outlets, clothing, and in crevices of walls. They can squeeze into spaces as small as the width of a credit card. Bed bugs can also live up to 400 days without feeding, making them resilient and hard to eradicate.
