"Roland is the owner of this small business. He was very service-oriented with getting our project reviewed, installed, and approved by the City of Lincoln. Additionally, he had to assist me in getting approval with my HOA first which took awhile. The Generac house generator installation serves as peace of mind during rolling blackouts from PG&E. My main concerns that were addressed by having a generator installed are keeping two fridges & a freezer working as well as having my network operational. I have two remote workers and a granddaughter that is a virtual student that requires continuous access to the internet. The installation was labor only and if you can find the Generac on sale this might be the way to go. However, if it is not on sale, you can have Roland take care of everything; just make sure that you have it in the contract (purchase, installation, approval, cleanup, etc). Tip for installation: I had this backup generator installed during the summertime and the lead time was longer than anticipated with the City of Lincoln and HOA approvals. If you are in a hurry, you need to plan for at least a month before the project can be completed."

"I had checked the breakers, resetting as I went, at the time we lost power. I checked each receptacle for a possible break or burnt wire but could not find anything and was convinced we had a break in the line somewhere for some reason so on Monday morning I called Alves Electric from the reviews he had on Angie's List. He was able to come out same day and within 4 hours of my call. As Rick went about resetting the breaker he wanted me to watch and learn why I thought it had been reset, explaining the type panel and why it was necessary to remove the cover in order to re-set the two breakers that were tied together. I had tried to do this 4 or 5 times yesterday and thought it had reset but after he showed me and explained why, I understood and was relieved that is all it was. Rick was/is very polite, thorough, was here a bit earlier than he thought would be but he called first. I have a garage rewiring job that he gave me am informal bid on that I will definitely give him the job to do. Great guy and great service.

"I don't really like taking time to get on my phone, write a review, and then post it but I feel like Marques deserves it. I hired him to install some color changing bluetooth recessed lights and he did a great job! He didn't even have to cut into the Sheetrock. Very clean job! I'll be hiring him again to do another set of recessed lights. I just wanted to try him out. I'd recommend him."

Generator Install questions, answered by experts

If you’re wondering whether gas generators produce carbon monoxide, know that natural gas generators do not produce carbon monoxide if they are functioning properly, as natural gas burns cleanly. However, if the generator malfunctions and the gas does not burn completely, there is potential for carbon dioxide to be produced. To prevent malfunctions, it's crucial to perform regular maintenance, including running the generator weekly and scheduling professional inspections every 6 to 12 months. Also, be sure to test your carbon monoxide detectors regularly to ensure they function in the rare case of the generator producing carbon monoxide.

Potential benefits of using a natural gas generator include reducing your carbon footprint, lower likelihood of carbon monoxide exposure, budget-friendly operating costs, and low-maintenance, continuous fuel supply. Some possible drawbacks, though, include higher initial installation costs, dependency on a natural gas supply, and installation complexity. Keep in mind that pros and cons will vary based on the type and brand of natural gas generator.

The amount of time a standby generator can run continuously is around 3,000 hours on average. However, standby generators can generally run indefinitely as long as they have a continuous fuel supply. Generators hooked up to a home’s natural gas supply are the best option for extended usage, as these won’t rely on a finite fuel supply based on how much you have in storage. Generators running on liquid propane or diesel won’t last as long, as these require fuel storage and regular refueling to stay running.

If you’re deciding between a solar battery versus a generator for the best backup power solution, you can take a few factors into consideration. Solar batteries are quiet while generators can be quite loud. Generators have a lower up-front cost, but they require fuel and ongoing maintenance while solar batteries are more expensive but don’t have many ongoing costs.

It is safe to run a generator continuously, but you must follow safety protocols to ensure personal and home safety. Read the manufacturer’s instructions for specific recommendations, but the general recommendation is to turn generators off overnight or when you’re away from the house. Overworked generators can pose a fire hazard and if your generator is not in a well-ventilated area, running it continuously could lead to carbon monoxide poisoning.
