"The plumber showed us a trick for how to clear the food trap using the garbage disposal and water pressure, which I really appreciated! He also, with permission, came early so punctuality was great. Only downside is this business is pretty expensive, twice at least what I have paid out prior plumber."

"Al turned our horrendous, barren backyard into a gorgeous, inviting space that we actually LOVE spending time in! We had every weed you can imagine growing back there and it was a huge chore to just keep it under control. Al gave us exactly what we needed. We had a plan drawn up of what we wanted. Our plan, combined with Al's expert advice and experience, resulted in the absolute perfect space for us and exceeded our expectations! We've been enjoying it now for 9 months, and looks just as good today as it did then. If you want the yard of your dreams, definitely give Al a call... you won't regret it!"

French Drains questions, answered by experts

A sewage smell in your crawl space is usually from a damaged or clogged pipe leaking sewer gasses or actual sewage underneath your home, but there are some other common causes. Moisture, from poor or damaged encapsulation or a malfunctioning sump pump, can harbor mold and bacteria, causing a musty smell. Pests can also get stuck in your crawl space and die, which causes a sewage-like odor.

You can often unclog a garbage disposal in less than 10 minutes, though sometimes you might need longer if you’re unsure what’s causing the clog. For minor clogs, consider plunging the drain, flushing the drain with baking soda and vinegar, or using an Allen wrench to free the clog. If the clog is more severe, contact a local plumber.

It’ll take 20 to 30 minutes to unclog a sewer line using a drain snake or drain cleaner. If you hire a professional, you should expect them to be on-site for three hours or less. In addition to clearing the clog, they’ll do other routine inspections, which adds to the overall time (and cost) required.

Yes, hiring a drain cleaner is worth it, especially when compared to the cost of not being able to use a sink, shower, toilet, or bathtub and the potential damage that flooding can cause in your home. You might try a temporary drain cleaning liquid or snaking it yourself, but if the clog is out of reach or these methods do not work, then hiring a professional drain cleaner is the way to go.

No. You should never pour old paint down a drain or sewer because it can clog pipes and pollute the environment. You must dispose of paint properly and safely. Different types of paint need to be disposed of in different ways—oil-based paints must be taken to a paint recycling center, while you can throw dried-out water- or latex-based paints in the garbage.
