I also network with other professionals in plumbing, electrical, painting and other contractors if you need a special service I may not provide, though I provide basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry and painting services. My business focuses on general home repair.
"I called Bob on Friday to install a new garbage disposal and since he wasn't available Saturday he came over Sunday afternoon and within two hours removed the old disposal, installed a new one, tightened a hinge, removed a door and promised to come back with new hinges at a later time. All for a very reasonable price."

Yes, you should hire a handyman who’s licensed, certified, and insured, if possible. States have different requirements for handyman licensing, registration, and certifications. If licensing is required in your area, you may pay more for a licensed handyman with experience than one who is not licensed or certified, but you’re likely to get a better end result for your project.
