"What a joy! I had another company set to mount two TVs on the walls in my home. It was a horrible experience, so I went to Home Advisors for a recommendation. Russell called me within 10 minutes. This was Thursday. His associate Chris was here at 8:00am Saturday. By himself he installed a 65 above my fireplace and @54 on the wall in a bedroom. PERFECT!! Chris was in and out of here within @ an hour and half. I had one mount; he supplied the second. Professional. Quick. Personable. Reasonably Priced. The VESA mounting standard refers to the layout of the mounting holes on the back of all televisions that follow the standard. These holes appear in the same place on all TVs of a certain size. This allows the mounting bracket and hardware manufacturers to build the brackets to fit the VESA standard. Ideally, if everyone follows the VESA standard, any brand of TV should fit any brand of mounting bracket, as long as the sizes match up correctly.

You will be placing holes in the wall to hang the mounting bracket. If you’re mounting a large TV, the bolts in use could make significant holes around half an inch in diameter. Other than a few holes, though, the process of mounting the TV should not cause significant damage to the wall, unless you make an error and miss the wall stud, tearing out drywall. Should you decide to remove the mount later, the DIY drywall repair cost for a small hole usually is $10 to $30. It’s a repair you can do in a few minutes.

If you want to enjoy your favorite movies from the comfort of your backyard or patio, you can mount a TV outside. You’ll want to be thoughtful about its location, ensuring it’s away from water and heat, like a grill or pool. Placing it under a roof, awning, or gazebo is usually a good idea as well for extra protection. Outdoor wiring does add an extra layer of complications with this project, so it may be worth it to hire an electrician to help.

As with any service provider, it’s customary to tip professional TV mounters after they complete your TV mounting service. Consider tipping 20% of the service cost, or $10 to $20 per professional. Tipping is always appreciated, especially for a labor-intensive mounting job or one that requires multiple people and hours.

It’s highly recommended to use studs for a TV mount. The last thing you want is to be watching your favorite show when the TV falls off the wall. Studs are much stronger than drywall and quite a bit stronger than drywall anchors but, if you can’t find the studs or there simply aren’t any where you need them, you can use drywall anchors. It’s extremely important to make sure the anchors are rated for the load of the TV. We recommend using anchors that are rated far beyond the weight of whatever you’re hanging. Our suggestion is metal drywall toggle anchors.
