Customers say: True professional

"Leo was very helpful and quick to respond. We’re happy with how our 2 bathrooms turned out. Project was completed within the time promised. Our only complaint is that the workers did not clean up very well. But overall, we’re satisfied and we’ll use them again."

"The reason I chose Alta Sierra after getting 3 estimates and making several phone calls, was that Chris was the only one who offered vinyl covering for wooden window frames. One guy wanted to cut the sill and put a vinyl frame, several guys flat out said "we won't touch wooden sills." Chris removed all rotted wood, patched it with new wood, then covered the window frame with vinyl. The windows look like new original windows. Chris was very well informed on the window codes for my house and very helpful with what styles to choose. Very tidy and very hard working."

"I was very happy with work done, (remodeled bathroom, replaced kitchen tile and paint). All work was done timely and workers arrived on day promised. Workers were professional, friendly and work was done with care. Contractor checked on work as it was being done and informed me as to what would be done next. I would highly recommend RGE Construction."

"Nir came out to the house to give an estimate. He is extremely professional and informative. He gave me some wonderful ideas on how to move forward with reconfiguring my kitchen and possibly adding a family room. He was extremely knowledgable and innovative and a very kind person. I would definitely recommend a meeting with him on any projects you are considering."

"Fantastic. Tony has done so much work for me in the past that I hire him for basically everything I need done. Walter, the lead painter, was so incredibly kind and did an amazing job after the wood repair folks, also hired by Tony, had finished. I just can't recommend Nexxus more highly. Tony stands by his work better than anyone I've ever hired before. I will use Nexxus every time I need anything done. Thanks, Tony!"

Egress Windows questions, answered by experts

They meet local code demands for escape routes, lighten basements, and aid in reducing overall humidity.

An egress window is similar to a regular window. However, this type of window opens fully to allow people to escape the home or rescue personnel to enter the home if an emergency occurs. Egress windows are required in all finished basements before they can be considered a living space.

Yes, you can install a bay window in an existing house. You’ll need to have a structural engineer draw up plans to add the necessary support to your exterior load-bearing walls and a general contractor to make the changes to the framing around the new wall opening. This will cost an average of $3,000. After that work is done, a window installer can set the new bay window in place.

Yes, you can always make an existing window bigger, but the job complexity varies widely depending on the location of the window and the framing around it. Exterior walls are always load-bearing, so making windows wider will require structural changes that make for a more complex but doable project. Making windows taller often won’t require structural changes.

Yes, you absolutely need a permit to add a window to your house. Your contractor can likely obtain this permit on your behalf. Ask about this when getting quotes from multiple window contractors.
