"Found out late at night we ran out of water in our water tank and saw the water pump was not working. So the next morning I was not sure who to call so I went onto home advisor and saw all the high ratings for Sierra Nevada Drilling and requested a quote. They contacted me within two minutes and drove to my house right away to fix the issue. I would highly recommend Sierra Nevada Drilling to anyone who has any water well or pump issue. They were quick, friendly and efficient."

"Vortex Filtration Inc is a excellent company with vast experience & knowledge in conditioning potable well water. I recommend Vortex Filtration Inc to design build and install their patented Vortex water system to solved all well water conditioning issues. My client had a problem for over tens years prior to the installation of the Vortex system. Once installed, the well water in the holding tank was crystal clear. Thanks Vortex!"

"Went well to this point of replacing parts. Then the United needed to have a system leak test and then needed freon put in pump. This was refused by Choice warranty. We were left with a partial repair and a heat pump not able to do it's job."

"The young gentlemen who came to service our pump were very professional and very knowledgeable in regards to the questions I had. Owner Bryan gave me an estimation of the cost (highest to lowest of prices) and was exactly what I had to pay. I definitely would recommend this to anyone who needs service. Great job guys!"

Wells and Pumps questions, answered by experts

How do you set your well’s pressure tank? All you need to do is first drain the tank of water and find the pressure switch. Remove the switch cover and adjust the switch with a wrench—clockwise to increase water pressure, and counter-clockwise to reduce it. Each complete turn of the nut on the switch should equal 2.5 psi. Once this is done, replace the switch cover. All that’s left is to adjust the pressure of the tank itself using an air compressor and a tire gauge to support the new setting.

There are many reasons you may want to extend the depth of an existing well or drill a new, deeper well on your property. A deeper well can tap cleaner water sources—shallow water may contain more contaminants. With a deeper well, you’ll also have an easier time reaching the water table depth (the level at which underground water is found) and can get past tricky soil conditions.

Plus, if your local building code requires a minimum well depth for safety and environmental standards, you’ll meet the code by digging a deeper well in the first place.

The costs depend on whether you are buying into an existing well or starting from scratch. The average well drilling cost is between $25 and $60 per foot. The average cost to repair a well is between $350 and $1500. If you have a shared agreement and a community association, there will be additional legal and administrative fees.

The disadvantages of having a well include more maintenance, like annual testing and inspections, and high up-front costs to drill a well. Well water is also vulnerable to contamination, which is why keeping up with testing is important if you own a well. When it comes to well water versus city water, well water does offer more independence and is a reliable water source.

Repairs typically take 2-4 hours. Complex issues may require additional time.
