"He was a younger man that came out with his dad. He was very quick, efficient, and thorough. He gave me a quick turnaround on the estimate. His prices were a little higher than I initially hoped for, but he was willing to work on me on that a little bit. Because a railing for concrete stairs is a safety feature, some locations require a permit to do the work, even for a residential setting. Check with your local building inspector to see if you need a permit. In most locations, the residential railing height code requires the handrail to be 34 to 38 inches off the ground. If you buy a concrete stair railing kit, the manufacturer almost certainly will ensure it fits this height requirement.
