The customer service from the team is excellent. We had electrical panel replaced; sub panels installed.installed motion sensor lights & basement lights. "Excellent service. I needed to upgrade my electric panel, Ben did an excellent job very professional. Installing switches, circuit breaker panels, relays, and other electrical control and distribution equipment was the right call. I look at several electricians with reasonable prices and CA Electrical Group was definitely the right call. I will highly recommend CA Electrical Group to all my friends. What was important to me was his daily commitment to start and finish the job the dates we agreed on."

"Came out the next morning and checked out the electrical outlets. The problem was we plugged in a coffee grinder and the cord flamed out. The electrician came out the next morning, because he knew this could be a big problem. After checking all the outlets on the circuit, determined it was an old, 30 year old coffee grinder. Our mind was at rest."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Light switches can last for decades when installed and maintained correctly. Improper wiring, heavy wear and tear, or too much wattage draw can cause light switch failure long before the expected end of a light switch’s life. Light switches that are hot to the touch, making a buzzing noise, or failing to work consistently should be inspected to find and repair the underlying cause.

The size of your home will help determine the size of your electrical panel. Usually, the decision comes down to a 100-amp electrical panel versus a 200-amp panel. Smaller homes, especially those without an HVAC system, may be able to get by with a 100-amp panel.

If you have a larger home or need to power AC, a 200-amp panel should be the best fit. It’s unlikely that you’ll need a larger panel than that unless you have a larger home or unique electrical needs, but an electrician can help you make the final call.

By nature, two-prong outlets aren't grounded—but the box they run to might be, which makes them safer. The safest way to test if an outlet is grounded is to purchase a circuit tester, which cost about $20 at home improvement stores.

If you discover your outlet (or outlets) aren't grounded, know that this greatly increases your risk of personal injury and electrical fires. You may want to consider installing new three-prong ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) outlets. On average, the cost to install GFCI outlets is about $210 per outlet.

Yes, a faulty or broken light switch can be a serious fire hazard. Malfunctioning switches, often due to loose connections, exposed wiring, or overheating, can cause sparking or arcing. If you hear a crackling, popping, or hissing sound when you use the switch, it indicates live electricity arcing inside, which is a significant hazard that can ignite nearby flammable materials. If you suspect your light switch is faulty, turn off the power to that circuit at the breaker and contact a qualified electrician to remedy the issue.

Most mechanical and digital timers will only turn your Christmas lights on and off once per day, but a smart timer will likely do so as many times as you want.
