"Ed&J installed a beautiful new roof on my home,. I can't say enough about how pleased I am. Jesse showed up on time, he explained everything that needed to be done,  he answered all my questions and concerns, he wrote me a very affordable estimate, and stuck to it. As for the crew, they showed up on time (early) and got right to work! I also want to say Sébastien did a great job installing the new fascia. My house has a long way to go, but hands down it has the best looking roof in my area! My whole experience with Ed&J was excellent. I highly recommend Ed&J to everyone. Thank you Jesse, Sébastien and the crew! ð"

"They were great! Very responsive and honest! They fixed up and epoxied the cracks in the stem wall on the raised foundation of my house. The project seemed daunting but these guys made the process so easy. And looks great! One more thing to check off the house projects list! â ï¸"

Roofing questions, answered by experts

The type of roof and roofing materials that are best for your mobile home depends primarily on its shape and slope. Rubber materials, such as EPDM and TPO, are best for flat, low-sloped, or bowed mobile home roofs. Asphalt shingles or metal roofing are best for mobile homes with sloped rooflines.

Copper roof strips can last for 20 to 30 years or more if properly installed—in many cases, they may outlast your roof. Inspect your roof annually to ensure copper roof strips remain properly adhered and undamaged, and repair any loose or lifted strips. With very little upkeep, copper roof strips can protect your roof for decades to come.

No, a chimney crown is not the same as a chimney cap. A chimney crown is a flat cement area on top of a masonry chimney. It starts where the masonry part of the chimney ends at the very top and domes upward toward the flue opening. A chimney cap sits on top of the crown over the flue. It is usually made of metal and allows smoke to escape without letting in rainwater.

The lifespan of asphalt shingles is typically between 15 and 30 years, depending on the type of shingle and other factors. Standard 3-tab shingles have the shortest lifespan, around 10 to 15 years. Architectural shingles last longer, averaging 20 to 25 years. Luxury or designer asphalt shingles are the most durable, with a lifespan of 40 years or more. Climate, installation quality, and regular maintenance also play a significant role in how long your shingles will last. Signs that they need replacement include granule loss, bald spots, and roof leaks.

Rubber shingles last for around 30 years, on average, and some can last for and include warranties for up to 50 years. Rubber roof shingles are more expensive than asphalt shingles, but they can last up to twice as long, meaning they provide more value in the long run. Just keep in mind that rubber roofs often require more maintenance than asphalt shingle roofs, including routine cleaning to avoid mold growth. Ask the roofer who installed your roof for an estimate for routine cleaning, if necessary.
