Customers say: True professional

"He showed up promptly at 8 am. Came in, took a look at the water damage, and the drain hole in the balcony. He provoded me with some insight on how the works usually go and what to expect. I am going to try one of his suggestions to quickly fix the leak, but of that did not work, i will need a more drastic fix."

"I hired Roy from RC Handyman to help me with a window project. I was having some windows replaced under warranty, and I have indoor plantation style shutters. In order to replace2 of the windows which had failed, the shutters needed to be removed. Roy was punctual and polite, quoted a reasonable price. He removed two shutter assemblies before the window team came out, and then came back and replaced them after the window work was done. He was able to schedule the work around the schedule of the window company so that the job was less disruptive than it would have been otherwise. I was very pleased with his work. I had to do a little touch-up cleaning after the job, and otherwise would have given him 5 stars."

Pool Table Assembly questions, answered by experts

No, you should not use an extension cord with an aboveground pool pump. In addition to being dangerous as a tripping hazard, use of an extension cord could void your pool pump’s warranty. This is because using an extension cord not rated for use with the pool filter pump could damage this equipment.

Yes, you can absolutely use a sand filter with a saltwater pool, but you’ll have to make sure you have the right grade of sand to catch smaller particles, just like in a standard pool. To choose the right pool filter, consider the degree of filtration you’ll need. Cartridge or diatomaceous earth filters can remove smaller particles, so they’re better suited for a less chlorinated saltwater pool.

When looking into fiberglass vs. concrete pools, you will notice a big price difference. A fiberglass pool costs $15,000 to $75,000, whereas a concrete pool costs $35,000 to $100,000. While concrete pools are customizable, fiberglass is faster to install and requires less maintenance. Additionally, you can expect to pay $25,000 to maintain a concrete pool over a ten-year span. On the other hand, a fiberglass pool only requires basic maintenance like testing water levels and cleaning.

Yes, you will need building permits for an inground pool, and your pool installation company should pull them for you. The permit filing fee will usually sit between $400 and $1,800, and it should appear on your contract or invoice. You may want to confirm with your contractor that they will pull all necessary permits. You might also need a permit for a new fence, as many municipalities have special fencing requirements for properties with pools. A fence permit costs between $50 and $500. This expense may not be included in your pool installation estimate.

In many homes, an unfinished basement is an ideal place for an in-ground pool. The concrete floors, protection against water damage, and access to the ground below your home make this a large contender. Speak with a local basement remodeling contractor to ensure your space is right for the large construction.
