"Santa Barbara home Purchase ADU rebuilt/Remodel. ADU was out of compliance and Slate Construction rebuilt with all the accommodations of a full kitchen, Bath and Laundry. Mike is an experienced carpenter so really knows his way around building cabinets and doors that fit well. Very thorough about the neighbors and worked well with his crews to get job done on schedule. Would highly recommend Slate Construction for future projects."

"We worked with Ali (sales manager) and Tony (project manager), who took the time to design a project that made sense for our property and our budget, made a number of suggestions and recommendations and were never pushy or tried to "sell" us on something. The crew really went above and beyond to provide top quality workmanship and overall we were in very good hands. Highly recommended!"

"Hired MV to replace a window and a sliding door. Upon consultation, they kindly informed me that they were both under warranty, walk me through how to get them replaced, all at the expense of their own company income stream. It would have been very easy for them to take care of it, and then bill me, but that is not the way that they operate. Very trustworthy and competent."

"Working with Ilan Yosef in Los Angeles was an outstanding experience from start to finish. His team handled our full home renovation with precision, transparency, and professionalism. Every detail was discussed clearly, timelines were respected, and the craftsmanship exceeded expectations. It?s rare to find a contractor who genuinely cares about quality and customer satisfaction. Highly recommended for anyone looking for reliable remodeling services."

Window Door Contractors questions, answered by experts

While the telltale signs can vary for different types of screen doors, it may be time to learn how to install a screen door if you're noticing rotting, warping, or splintering accompanying the sagging. If you’re unsure whether to replace a sagging screen door, consult a local screen door pro for an inspection and final decision.

Rescreening your porch can take a few hours to a whole day, depending on the size of the enclosure and the amount of screen that needs replacing. If you decide to have a professional handle the rescreening, be sure to get a timeline and a cost estimate so you know how long you’ll be without the screened-in space.

Yes, you can add a screen door to most door frames. The screen should be able to fit standard-size door frames, so unless you have an unusually sized door, you shouldn’t have an issue. Just make sure to properly measure the frame. When in doubt, it’s best to let a pro take care of this task for you so it’s installed correctly.

While sometimes used interchangeably, screen doors and storm doors have key differences. Screen doors are simple structures, typically composed of just a frame and a screen, designed to keep out bugs while allowing air circulation. In contrast, storm doors are heavier and more complex, built to protect your home's main entry door from weather and intruders. They usually feature an aluminum frame with interchangeable tempered glass and screen panels, allowing you to switch between ventilation and insulation. A storm door offers more protection and versatility but generally costs more than a basic screen door.

Awning windows can have screens, but it depends on your manufacturer. If your awning window does have a screen, it will be on the interior side so it doesn’t get in the way when you crank the window open. Having the screen on the inner part of the window also makes it easier to clean from inside your home.
