Small jobs welcome

"I have had the pleasure of hiring Artemio for three projects over the course of the past year. One was at my old place at the northeast. He did some work on my sliding glass patio door, along with some plumbing and painting. His work was excellent. And his prices very fair (I got 3 estimates- his price was the best). I hired him to do two other projects since moving to a new place in the southwest. The first involved some repair work on a door. The other involved priming and painting five doors and their sills (all five hadn’t been touched prior to moving in and had scruff marks and scratches). He made them look brand new. What I like about Artemio is he shows up when he says he will, and stays on the job until it is done. His work is always of high quality. He is a five thumbs up in my book! I highly recommend him."

"We recently had Mega Power Electric Inc install a solar system and panels. The President and provided excellent communication all the way through the process. He even met with us after installation to explain the almost incomprehensible PG&E bill. Although not the least expensive bid, his was competitive and I felt he was as interested in educating me about solar and the various types of panels and inverter systems as he was in selling a system. He demonstrated how the array of panels would meet our energy needs and as opposed to some of the other companies, wasn't selling us more than we needed. We are very satisfied with our solar system and I highly recommended Mega Power Electric Inc."

Glaziers questions, answered by experts

Glass walls are more expensive overall than their brick or drywall counterparts. However, if you need walls for a building with more than two or three stories, glass walls are the more budget-friendly option.

While wavy glass is sometimes called antique glass or restoration glass due to the fact that it's found exclusively in older homes, the proper names for wavy glass are actually crown glass and cylinder glass. Most commonly used for circular or portal windows, crown glass was created by manufacturers using a process of blowing and spinning. Meanwhile, cylinder glass was used more commonly because it created large square sheets that could be shaped to fit windows of all shapes and sizes.

The easiest way for DIYers to smooth the edges of cut glass is to use sandpaper. Wearing protective gloves, gently sand the sharp edges smooth using low-grit sandpaper and working up to high-grit sandpaper. You can also use a multitool with a rotating sandpaper cylinder to make quicker work of the project.

You can still see vaguely into some types of glass block windows at night. Although there won’t be clear definitions, passersby may still see shapes, shadows, and movement through the glass. If you want complete privacy, consider installing diamond glass block windows rather than the typical clear or wavy glass blocks.

Yes, you can replace just the glass pane in a window without affecting the surrounding frame. This is a complex process, so it is best to hire a window repair professional to handle the task. A technician will cut the seal, remove the old glass, install the new pane, and properly seal it. For double-pane windows, this includes creating a vacuum between the panes and filling it with insulative gas to restore energy efficiency. Professionals can also help you choose the right type of glass for your window. This repair process is almost always more affordable than replacing the entire window unit.
