"Dustin and Brad were communicative through the whole process and were able to get my project completed in a timely manner! The sealcoat was much thicker than I had expected and will hold up much longer than the previous jobs I had done. Thanks!!"

Customers say: Quick response

"Owner, Gus, is very personable, professional and accommodating. My driveway was old, cracked and broken. The guys have repaved it and it looks great. Waiting for them to come back and seal it. They were careful working around the plants that line my driveway. So, far, I am very happy with the results."

"Working with Joe was easy. He kept in contact and the job was done on the timeline promised. Our driveway looks great! A few neighbors came by to check out the work and asked Joe to look at their place. He is patient, calm and has great customer service. I will pass his information to anyone interested in this kind of work."

"We are very satisfied with the work done. We have a 270 foot log wide driveway that was severely damaged by the recent flooding. Vincent came out bid the job and it started on time the agreed date. The job crew was professional went above and beyond expectations. Our neighbors have asked for referrals which we have gladly given. We love our driveway and are looking forward to the sealing coat later this summer."

"They were great. Their estimate was far less than the other three bids I received and they did a wonderful job. Once the job was done and after the driveway was dried, they came back to make sure everything "sat up" well and touched up wherever needed. It looks like a completely new driveway instead of repairs being made. They also did my two neighbors driveway at the same time. One was a repair job and one was a complete replacement. Both neighbors were thrilled with the work."

"They are very professional, arrived on time and worked fast and efficient. We also liked that the owner's son was here the entire time making sure everything went well. There were five workers and they were done in under 2 1/2 hrs and even put borders on both sides of the driveway so that the asphalt won't break down if anyone goes off the edge of the driveway. They left the job site clean. The price was reasonable. We would definitely refer them."

Driveway Sealcoating questions, answered by experts

Maintaining a driveway depends on its material. For concrete and asphalt, it's best to clean the surface thoroughly twice a year with a stiff broom and a pressure washer to remove accumulated dirt and debris. Sealing the driveway is crucial to protect it from water damage and freeze-thaw cycles. Before applying a sealant, pressure wash the surface to remove any loose sealant, dirt, or stains, as sealing over them will trap them. Any cracks or expansion joints should be filled with a flexible polyurethane caulk or asphalt sealer. In colder climates, use sand instead of salt for de-icing. Sand helps melt snow and ice without accelerating the freeze-thaw process, which can cause cracks.

One of the easiest ways to avoid poor customer service and poor sealant application is to hire a reputable, licensed company. Contact companies with positive customer reviews and Better Business Bureau (BBB) ratings, and ask for customer references from any company you’re considering hiring to seal your driveway. Get price quotes from three local driveway sealcoating companies to compare pricing and services to find the best fit for your home.

While blacktop is a type of asphalt, the terms should not be used interchangeably, as not all asphalt qualifies as blacktop. The primary differences are in their composition, production process, and ideal applications. Blacktop contains more stone than other types of asphalt and is heated to a higher temperature during production—300°F or more—while hot-mix asphalt is heated to between 275°F and 300°F. The ratio of bitumen (a tar-like crude oil) is a key differentiator, though sources vary: some state blacktop has less bitumen, making it less durable, while others claim it has a higher ratio. Due to these differences, asphalt is generally more durable and better for high-traffic areas like highways and streets, while blacktop is more suitable for playgrounds and residential driveways. For a driveway project, it is best to consult a professional to determine the most appropriate material.

Sealing coat asphalt after 6-12 months and then every 2-3 years is recommended.

Oil-based sealers generally offer longer results for driveways in cold climates. If you experience extreme temperatures, oil sealants offer a level of flexibility that makes them expand and contract along with the freeze-thaw cycle instead of cracking.
