"Guillermo did an incredible job on our gate. There was existing fence in the spot we wanted the gate and we asked him to use the existing material for the gate build. The gate looks great and works perfectly. He was on time, responsive and we will absolutely hire him again for our next fencing project! The pricing was also unbeatable compared to 4 other quotes. You will not regret using GD Fence."

"Nice people, they claim to give a lifetime warranty including resealing seems or any problem at all. They showed up as scheduled, took a bit longer than expected. I was very happy with the way it looked when they were finished. Im still happy with the way it looks. After they left I noticed they had drilled a hole in my concrete walkway and pounded in rebar to mount a gate post but they didn’t plan it right and I believe they called the owner out who decided to put the post in a more suitable place. Unfortunately the cracked concrete with a flush cut piece off rusty rebar remains as an eyesore. After a month or two the gate post on the opposite side began pulling out of the stucco on the side of my garage. I took it apart to find they used cheep plastic anchors so i just went and replaced them with metal concrete anchors myself so its never coming out again. I figured despite the warranty id just get it done. Fast forward to present June 2019 and i noticed that 2 of the base plates of the fence are not fastened to the concrete on one end allowing them to swivel out of place when the neighbors gardener does yard work it pushes them out of place. I contacted Sonrise and was given a date two weeks away that they would show up but they could not give a time. Sounds stupid but fortunately I’m retired and can sit home all day waiting for them to show up because hey what else do i need to do right? never showed up. I emailed again and the Forman called and apologized said he’d be out the following Friday. Never called never showed up. I emailed again and its been a week and a half with no response. so much for that lifetime warranty. I am really happy with the way the fence looks but cutting corners on simple stuff has me a bit confused because when you say lifetime warranty to fix ANYTHING wrong. Well you’d expect no short cuts because then you’d have to come fix the problems ... Unless... you have no plans to fix anything at all. I don’t care to write a review like this but when you jerk a customer around then just ignore them what else is left to do?"

"Company assigned a single painter for the exterior painting of a single level, 2000 sq. ft. home. Painting, including some minor stucco repair, was completed as scheduled in 4 days. Ray, the painter, did an excellent job. Would definitely use again. Highly recommend."

"We are very please with the work that Manny and his crew did for us. Manny was meticulous during the the walk through of the house, pointed our problems we did were not aware of. During the project he kept up informed of the progress, and promptly responded to our calls, texts and emails. The stucco repair made the exterior look like a complete re-stucco. Manny is fair, honest, professional very personable. His work was so impressive that a neighbor asked for his contact information."
This is the type of quality workmanship that we do. Look at the next images to see our process.
After much work, this is how our subflooring repair and tile job came out. The next photos show the process of how much work went into this job. Enjoy!
At this stage we laid out the studs per plan and were ready to start building the first wall.
The old stained sink and faucet had to go.
After removing the old toilet, I saw that the flange had a piece broken where the seating screw is attached. This had to be fixed before installing the new toilet. These are items that are not visible when you give a bid.

"Overall, it went great. We waited a year to write this review because we wanted to see how everything held up, in case there might be any issues that arose after the initial install. Among the firms we interviewed, California Landscape was the most flexible in trying to meet our budget goals while also meeting our overall design intent. Their professional landscape designer, Jesse, did an excellent job listening to our high-level intent and our ideas, as well as contributing his own suggestions. His cost proposal(s) were thorough and included options that we could potentially subtract in order to stay within budget. He delivered beautiful color 3D design drawings that included pictures of proposed plants. Key element of the new design were (1) replacing all concrete with pavers, (2) removing rock that covered the front "lawn" & side gardens and replacing it with more tropical looking gardens, (3) removing the wood deck and installing a 2-tiered paver patio, (4) removing the Bermuda grass and replacing it with artificial turf., and (5) removing a palm tree that was blocking lake views. After the design was signed off, construction was planned. Construction began roughly on time and went largely as planned, although the project took a couple of weeks longer than the original 4 week schedule. We were well informed of each step and each day's and week's plans. Crews were efficient and courteous. The project manager, Leo, was diligent, although he was managing a large number of jobs (more than we expected), so he wasn't on-site quite as often or for as long as we were originally expecting. As any issues arose (either as noted by California Landscape or by ourselves), they were openly discussed and quickly resolved. Some resulted in slight cost increases, others resulted in slight decreases. We felt pricing of any changes was fair and California Smartscape was very straightforward to deal with. They were very professional and we had no major conflicts. At the end of construction, the resulting landscaping looked beautiful, although obviously many of the plants were still quite small and hadn't grown in yet. We received many compliments right away from people who saw the front & side landscaping. We also received many compliments from people who saw our rear landscaping (the house is on a lake and boaters frequently pass by our back year). We were delighted with the way it looked. The only significant glitch that we ran into for the construction part of the project had to do with a railing that we wanted on the raised rear 2-tier paver patio. Although we technically didn't need a railing because of the height of the decks, we wanted one. California Landscaping was not willing to take on the railing portion of the project themselves, but they said they could refer us to a railing contractor who could provide what we wanted. Unfortunately, when the recommended railing contractor showed up, he passed on the railing project because it was not a simple type that he only does. California Landscaping was unable to help us at all once the railing contractor punted, so we were left on our own to source it. That turned out to be problematic. We eventually got it done, but the railing part took much longer than we wanted and it cost quite a bit more than we had planned on. The final result looked great and turned out great, but the railing part of the whole process was painful. The railing aspect of the project was another reason why we delayed our Angie's list review - we didn't want to provide a review until the full project was completed - including the railing. Then the heavy, heavy rains came in the winter of 2017. It was a good opportunity to see how the full landscaping (installed in the spring & summer of 2016) would hold up. We had a 1-yr warranty so we were still well within the warranty period when the winter rains came. Well, the rains prompted some settling of part of the raised 2-tier deck, which caused a section of pavers to tilt upward. The deck area also puddled significantly due to the settling. So, we pointed out the quality problem to California Smartscape. The company owner, Robert, came out to inspect it himself and immediately committed to repairing it back to new. Cost was never discussed, but the repair was done without any cost to us. A couple of weeks later crews were dispatched to repair the paver deck settling problem and they did an absolutely first class job at the repair. It looks brand new and we're confident that the settling problem won't recur. The company held up to their high standard of quality from design, to construction, to any subsequent fixes that were needed later on. We would (and have already) highly recommend California Landscape."

Gate Repair questions, answered by experts

In most cases, you will need a permit to install a new driveway or property gate. An exception might be if you are simply replacing an existing gate. Before issuing a permit, your local municipality may require a site plan or survey to verify property lines and prevent encroachment on a neighbor's property. Permits for a gate typically cost under $100. Be aware that corner properties may have additional restrictions on gate height or style. It's wise to confirm permit requirements with your local building department or your gate installation company, which can usually handle the entire permitting process for you.

Installing a gate on your property is often a worthwhile investment, despite the initial expense. Gates enhance your home's curb appeal and can increase its property value, making them more attractive to potential homebuyers. They provide significant security benefits by keeping out unwanted guests and increasing privacy for your household. Additionally, a gate can help keep children and pets safely contained in your yard.

For driveway gates, automatic versions are particularly convenient and tend to add more value than manual ones. The choice of gate material also plays a role in both aesthetic appeal and security. Beyond driveways, side gates can improve accessibility to your rear yard, making the outdoor space more usable. Overall, whether for security, safety, or aesthetics, installing a gate is a valuable addition to a property.

It can cost $100 to $500 to purchase and install a gate opener. You can use ready-made kits that come with DIY instructions. If you hire a professional gate installer to handle the job, expect to pay an average of $100 per hour or between $200 and $500.

When choosing a driveway gate, consider the fence material, whether you want an automatic gate or a manual one, and property limitations like the slope of your driveway. We recommend speaking with a professional driveway gate installer to see what types of gates will work on your property based on your fencing or home’s exterior. Keep in mind that driveway gates should range between 10 to 12 feet wide to ensure cars can easily maneuver through the gateway.

While it is possible to install a manual gate yourself, it is generally not recommended. Professional installation is strongly advised, especially for automated or large driveway gates. Gates can be extremely heavy, sometimes weighing hundreds of pounds, which makes them bulky and dangerous to maneuver into place. Proper installation requires perfect positioning and balancing to ensure the gate swings smoothly and functions as intended. For automated gates, the wiring is also hazardous and typically requires a licensed electrician. Mistakes during a DIY installation can be costly, as materials alone can average around $1,000. Given the safety risks and the difficulty of achieving a proper setup, it is best to hire a professional gate installer.
