"Masterscapes met all our expectations and exceeding them on a few aspects. Working with Troy was a joy from day one when he was here for an estimate. I am writing this review 6 months later and have no follow-up issues to report. Everything is working wonderfully and the bushes are growing great. My family spends 10X the amount of time in the backyard now than we used the before. The crews work well, and what is particularly nice to see is how it is all integrated together even though the crews can be different. Troy did a final walk through, checking at all stages for our satisfaction. We made a few changes during the process including adding new lighting at the last minute, which were all managed with an open mind and supported.? I would definitely recommend Masterscapes for a quality job, especially if you are trying to accomplish a range of things and want to ensure it all flows well together."

"Very clean and professional. Roger and his team did an excellent job. We were installing canned lighting in our kitchen and front. Roger spent time with me reviewing the best locations for the lighting as well as the switch locations. Best of all, he did not leave me with a dry wall project when they were done. Will hire again."

"They installed a light fixture and adjusted the length on another light I had. There were 2 electricians and they were here for a little less than an hour. He was suppose to call me back for additional quotes. I never heard back from them. I also tried to contact them through Angie’s List and I still got no response."

Lighting questions, answered by experts

While wet-rated and damp-rated lighting is designed to handle contact with moisture, there’s a difference between the two. Wet-rated lighting is safety-rated to be placed in areas with direct exposure to water, including your shower. Fixtures classed as wet-rated are made with waterproof seals to protect the filament and other electrical components from water and moisture.

Damp-rated fixtures can be used in places with some moisture contact, but not direct exposure. They don’t have the same waterproof seals used in wet-rated fixtures. Damp-rated lighting can be used on your bathroom ceiling or along a wall outside of your shower.

Your maintenance needs revolve around the type of foundation you choose, as well as how you furnish or decorate it. Patios require little else other than the occasional hose-down, but decks and other wooden structures will require annual power washing and sealing. You may also need to restain the wood every two to three years.

Adding a solid roof rather than building a pergola or leaving the space open will make maintenance much easier. Without a roof, you will need to spend more time sweeping, washing, and covering your furniture to protect it from UV bleaching.

Installing outdoor lighting can increase your home’s value by up to $2,500. The average ROI on landscape lighting is around 50%, but how much your home increases depends on the market, the type of lighting, and whether you have a strong strategy for your landscaping lighting project. LED and solar lighting may offer the highest ROIs.

Yes, outdoor lights and receptacles should be on a ground-fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) for safety. The outdoors is considered a wet location where GFCI protection is generally required. A GFCI enhances safety by automatically tripping and shutting off the circuit if it detects an imbalance, which protects against electrocution and reduces the risk of an electrical fire. While it is the safest approach for all outdoor electrical components, specific requirements can vary depending on the type of light (e.g., pool lights), its location, and local electrical codes. For guidance tailored to your specific situation, it's best to consult a professional electrician.

Simple repairs like replacing bulbs can be DIY projects, but professionals should handle significant electrical repairs to ensure safety and compliance with electrical standards.
