They kindly remove some branches I had back there from another tree trim without even asking. When they were done, I mentioned wanting the giant tree in the front trimmed and they were able to squeeze that in for a reasonable price. I would def hire them again. "

Land-clearing projects often take professionals one to two days to complete, but your timeframe can get much longer—sometimes up to a week or more—if you need your pros to clear a large section of land, grind down multiple large trees below the ground, or clear especially dense or heavy materials, like landscaping boulders and brush. Some people prefer to leave or even carve a leftover stump, but we recommend removing it if possible. You can often dig out smaller trunks with a shovel once they have died and dried out. We recommended removing the tree stump because it can create many of the same problems as a dead, decaying tree. Those stumps can rot over time, creating an attraction for bugs, fungi, and other unwelcome yard guests.

If your tree specialist says that a hardwood tree is in excellent condition, you may be able to use the stump as a decoration for years to come. However, it’s still important to keep an eye on it, and arrange to remove the stump if it starts to show significant signs of decay.

Epsom salt kills tree stumps by drying out the root system and preventing it from receiving the nutrients and water it needs to live. Over time, the salt dries out the stump, allowing it to rot and break down. You can often dig out the stump once it’s deteriorated or cover the area with soil or mulch to allow the stump to rot away naturally.

Unfortunately, palm tree stumps are one of the most difficult types to remove due to how their roots grow. Unlike other trees, palm tree roots grow horizontally and vertically. Palm tree roots grow as deep as three feet into the ground, although soil and growing conditions could mean they go as far as 50 inches into the earth. 

If you want to be able to repurpose the grass in the area where you removed a stump later, you’ll have to dig quite deep—and perhaps wide—to trim away all the roots.
