Small jobs welcome

"Today,we have beautifully restored Black Granite counters thanks to Gabriel and Jacob of Metro Carpet and Restoration Co. After waiting years to afford new granite counters, we asked the installer to perfect 2 seams. Overfilling usually removed with a razor blade or grinding went bad when diamond powder bleached out pale gray strips. (Note: Black Galaxy granite a beast, is dyed a richer black, baked in ovens after mining and polishing, before shipping from India.) Products were tried and failed, the counters were beyond saving. I posted on Home Adviser. Ron the owner of Metro Cleaning and Restoration Co. called. He sent out Gabriel to give me a quote. Gabriel a big weight lifting, angel of granite salvation, was about to face pure granite hell, but refused to give up. Equipped with special buffers, compounds, chemical restorers, pigments, polishes, and incredible patience, the black diamond sheen slowly emerged. They shined all trim and filled tiny stress cracks. Metro even gave me a special price on carpet cleaning. If you want a win, win situation Metro Carpet and Restoration, is the answer to all your cleaning and restoration problems."

Buffing and Polishing FAQs, answered by experts

Routine sealing, avoiding heavy loads, and proper drainage improve lifespan. Regular inspections help catch and remedy problems early.

Yes, it is possible to buff and polish your floors yourself, particularly for smaller areas. However, this is considered an intermediate-level DIY project that is time-consuming and requires patience and know-how. The process involves cleaning the floors before applying a polish, which can be done manually with a cloth or with a rented or purchased floor buffer and buffing solution. If not done correctly, you risk leaving burn-like marks, puddles, or an uneven finish, which could lead to costly repairs. For larger spaces or to ensure a professional result, hiring a professional is often worthwhile. They use industrial equipment to complete the job faster, providing a deep clean and a more even, polished finish without damaging your floors.

The best cleaning method to use for your project will depend on the specifics of that project. However, sandblasting does come with the risk of damaging the surface you’re trying to clean. One safer alternative to sandblasting is laser cleaning, which can remove many of the same contaminants with a lower risk of damage and a lower overall cost.

The cost of stone restoration typically ranges from $5 to $10 per square foot. The final price depends on several factors, including the type of stone, the extent of the damage, the level of polish required, and the labor intensity of the job.

Quartzite countertops are porous, meaning that liquids can seep into the stone and stain them. You’ll need to seal them before installing and resealing annually, depending on use and stone material. Sealing will help prevent stains and etching. On the other hand, you don’t need to seal quartz and other engineered stone countertops since they aren’t porous.
