"We had luxury vinyl plank flooring installed by Hadley flooring and they did a wonderful job. Brian is extremely skilled and does beautiful work. Brian responded quickly and provided an estimate shortly after meeting with us. His estimate was fair, and he provided the information I needed to purchase the product (quantity etc). They were at the house on time each day, picked up after themselves, and left the house in good condition at the end of each work day. I highly recommend Hadley flooring for your flooring install. His work is impeccable."

"They did exactly as I asked, but for $100 I only got a surface cleaning. The two who showed up were very nice and accommodating however one of them left the job which only left one person to do most of the work. This was not the way I cleaned house when I was able, but there is only so much a person can do in a few hours."

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

Carpet density refers to how closely together the fibers of a carpet are stitched into the carpet backing, with values ranging from 1,000 to 7,000. A carpet density value of 3,000 or higher is considered best for most homes, especially in high-traffic areas, such as a living room or dining room. If you’re comparing two carpets made of the same material, a higher carpet density can indicate better durability and longevity. However, carpet density is only one of many factors that can help you determine a carpet’s quality.

Carpet installers use furniture sliders or blankets to protect your furniture during the installation process. They handle each piece with care to minimize the risk of damage. Additionally, they may employ techniques such as lifting and shifting furniture rather than dragging it across the floor to prevent scratches or other marks. If you have particularly delicate or heavy items that need to be moved, discuss special handling with the installers beforehand.

Carpet is an effective natural insulator, so it will make a room slightly warmer than laminate. The material’s insulating properties also make carpeted rooms more efficient for temperature regulation.

No, thick carpet padding isn’t necessarily better than thinner padding. The appropriate padding thickness will depend on the type of carpet and the amount of foot traffic in the area.

For example, thick padding works well in low-traffic areas, like bedrooms, where you have soft and plush carpeting. However, thick carpet padding can damage low-pile carpet, which is used in the busiest parts of your home (like hallways and entryways). For that reason, it’s best to use thinner, heavier padding underneath carpet in high-traffic areas.

Carpet tiles are less expensive than traditional carpet. The average cost of carpet installation is $1,800, or $3 to $11 per square foot. In comparison, carpet tiles cost $2.50 to $11 apiece and can often be bought in bulk cartons. Since you can more easily DIY carpet tiles, you may be able to save on installation costs, too.
