"Allied Electric installed some Patio heaters for me, which also required upgrades to my electric panel. The entire process went smoothly and quickly - about a week from first engagement to job completion, and that included local permitting (which Allied managed) around the holiday weekend. Everyone I interacted with was friendly and knowledgeable, from Amber in the office, to Marioâ s inspection and quote, to Luisâ and Codyâ s installation. We are really enjoying being able to use our patio in the wintertime- Many thanks to the friendly Proâ s at Allied Electric!"

"AC Medic Itâ s not easy finding a good company to provide services, if youâ re a new resident to an area.   We had just moved from Ewa Beach, Hawaii to Prescott Valley, Arizona.   In my case, I asked my new neighbor, a plumber, if he knew of someone good to repair/replace my AC/Heat Pump system.  He said, â Call Bob, Iâ ve recommended him a lot over the years and have never got a complaint.â Then he handed me a card, from his truck, for AC Medic and I called.  I knew nothing about the company other than what my neighbor had said. However, from the outset of the call, â She was friendly, professional and sounded like she caredâ . So I made an appointment, which I later rescheduled because of the weather, â snowâ . Meeting Bob, was a continuation of my call and first impression, â He was friendly, professional and he sounded like he caredâ . So after asking for an estimate and going on Bobâ s advice, I purchased a new unit, scheduled installation, put down a deposit, and still hoped my impressions (and neighbor) were correct. The installers were also â friendly, professional, and they caredâ !! Joshua and his team, (sorry guys Iâ m horrible on remembering names), cared about the quality of their work, doing a GOOD job, and making sure everything was done the proper way, unlike the people that installed the unit that was being replaced. After just asking my new neighbor for a recommendation, I now agree with him! AC Medic is a good company! Give them a call!!"

Nest Installation questions, answered by experts

Maintaining a clean environment can deter spiders to a certain extent by removing clutter and reducing the number of insects they prey on. Spiders tend to favor secluded spots to spin their webs and hunt for prey, and regular cleaning practices such as dusting, vacuuming, and decluttering can disrupt these ideal conditions. Despite these preventive measures, some spider species are highly adaptable and may still infiltrate your home despite your best efforts to maintain a tidy living space.

Heat is the most effective instant killer of bed bugs. Exposing them to temperatures above 131 degrees Fahrenheit for over an hour can eliminate them. Methods like steam cleaners and using a dryer on high heat are effective for this. Other options that can kill bed bugs on contact include EPA-approved pesticides, bleach, disinfectant sprays with alcohol, diatomaceous earth, and hydrogen peroxide. While freezing can work, it is not an instant solution, as it can take several days at 0 degrees Fahrenheit to be effective. Keep in mind that many DIY treatments won't reach bed bugs hidden in cracks or behind walls. For severe infestations or the most effective results, it is best to hire a professional exterminator for a professional heat or chemical treatment.

While vinegar doesn’t get rid of spider webs that already exist, spraying a mixture of vinegar and water in areas where you’ve found webs before will deter spiders from rebuilding there. The acetic acid within vinegar can harm and kill spiders, so they’ll want to stay as far away from this strong-smelling substance as they can get.

The cost of pest control services depends on various factors, but the average homeowner pays around $175, with a typical range of $100 to $500. Your final cost will be influenced by the type of pest, the size and severity of the infestation, and the number of treatments needed.

Service costs also vary by frequency:

  • One-time service: $300–$550

  • Initial visit for ongoing service: $150–$300

  • Monthly visits: $40–$70

  • Quarterly visits: $100–$300

  • Annual visits: $300–$550

For specific pest examples, getting rid of spiders typically costs between $100 and $300, whereas a termite infestation can cost from $230 to $2,500 or more, depending on the extent of the damage.

While there are plenty of DIY home remedies for pests, trapping and fumigation costs are worth the investment when dealing with a serious infestation that is hard to get rid of, like termites,  bed bugs, or mice.

DIY traps and sprays might help eliminate a few ants or the occasional mouse, but they're no match for a full-blown infestation. Call an extermination pro to locate where pests hide, how to treat the issue at the source, and how to keep it from returning.
