"We hired Joel to install stairs going to our attic as well as install plywood flooring in the attic. He also put hinge restrictors in all cabinets, painted, did carpentry around the entry to attic. Joel is meticulous, conscientious, detailed, and if something didn’t look right, he’d make sure it was perfect before he left. He worked all day on a pretty intense project but wouldn’t leave until he was thoroughly satisfied with the outcome. He worked in a hot garage and attic. He came on time each day, worked until the project was done and we would hire him again in a heartbeat."

"The job Zach did for us was weed-eating our weedy, rocky yard, but Koolwater offers full service landscaping, including design, planting, walls, in addition to maintenance. Zach is a commensurate professional. He's been working in this family business for 25 years, starting with his father. He does what he says he's going to do: he completes the job as agreed upon and his prices are very fair. He has the equipment, knowledge and staff to do whatever you need done. He's present on the job with his crew and works alongside them. Zach provides great customer service. He communicates to sort out details. He and his crew are conscientious, taking care of your property to protect windows, sliding doors, siding, out-buildings, and other features in your yard. We therefore highly recommend Koolwater Landscaping. They are our first call for all our landscaping needs."

"Tidy Up Landscaping lived up to their name. My yard looks immaculate after they left. I asked them to winterize my irrigation system and then clean my gutters and remove leaves. They did an expert job for a very reasonable rate."

"Mr. Gordon has helped get my mom ready to move in with me. "Evan" installed a beautiful wood plank floor in my mom's room and downstairs in a spare room. Turned out beautiful! He also built a natural knotty pine looking wood shelves with black brackets, I picked out and fast, for a foid pantry and storage. I will be asking him to change out a ceiling fan soon. In a small town it can be difficult to find a reliable handyman who shows up on time, is professional and easy to talk to. I highly recommend Evan. I appreciate everything he's done."

Leaf Removal questions, answered by experts

Household products such as paints, cleaners, oils, and batteries are considered hazardous and should not be disposed of with regular household waste. Instead, look for local household hazardous waste collection facilities where you can safely dispose of these items without harming the environment or human health.

The best way to remove lead paint is by wet hand sanding and removing all dust and residue with a HEPA vacuum. Professionals may also strip and scrape lead-based paint with a paint scraper. In some cases, you may choose to have a pro encapsulate or enclose your lead-based paint surface by covering it with a sealant or a new material. You may also choose to replace the material altogether.

Embarking on a kitchen demolition comes with its share of risks to keep in mind. Think of potential encounters with asbestos, sharp objects, and power tools—not to mention the peril of structures wobbling or unexpected plumbing surprises. And, of course, you will be surrounded by dust and debris throughout the process. All of the above makes safety gear necessary, or you can consider hiring a qualified professional.

The best disposal method for hazardous waste is recycling or donation, if possible. That way, the world can reduce its consumption of raw materials and the volume at which materials have to be treated and disposed of. If recycling or donation is not an option, most waste can be disposed of through landfills or incinerators, but their collection and treatment are separate from regular day-to-day waste disposal.

You should ask a few questions to ensure that your potential lead removal professional is experienced and qualified to handle lead-paint abatement safely, legally, and properly.

  • What are your qualifications and experience removing lead-based paint?

  • Are you licensed and certified to remove lead-based paint?

  • How do you test for lead paint?

  • What methods do you use for lead-based paint abatement?

  • What do you plan to do with the hazardous material when you remove it from the home?

  • Do you do replacement and painting work or removal only?
