"GREAT! I could not have pulled off this project, without the help from A State Handymen. They were courteous, efficient and diligent in their work. Not only were we impressed with the craftsmanship exhibited by these tradesmen, but their work was completed in record time. In fact, their work enhanced the appearance of my home in every way. Each evening they took care to store their tools neatly, and ensure that there was a way to access the house without a problem. Their clean up was above anything that I had expected and was well pleased. These employees presented an excellent image for A State. Indeed it is rare to encounter employees of this caliber and should be applauded. Our experience with A State Handymen Inc has been a very pleasant one. I would hire them again when needed."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

No, it's not advisable to only replace the outside AC unit connected to your system. AC units are designed to work as a cohesive system, and older units work differently than newer units. Therefore, replacing only one component can lead to incompatibilities that affect the system’s performance. Replacing one component can void your warranty, costing you money for repairs.

Yes, it's normal for air conditioners to leak tiny amounts of water due to condensation. Under normal circumstances, all excess moisture travels to the drain pan to be pumped through your system's drain line. You should call a technician to diagnose the issue if you're noticing frequent leaking or pooling. It's also important to investigate if your homeowners insurance can cover water damage.

To reduce AC startup power for a whole-house generator, install a soft start kit or hard start capacitor, which lowers the initial surge by gradually ramping up the compressor. Using a smart load manager can also help by staggering startup loads, preventing a system overload and future costly repairs.

It depends on the size of the space you’re cooling down. If you’re looking for the most affordable way to cool an entire house over a long period of time, then central air will be more cost-effective. But when it comes to cooling down a couple of rooms or one floor, a window unit may be the cheaper option, with both a lower cost to install and less energy used to run.

Yes, it’s normal for an AC to drip water. In fact, it’s part of the dehumidifying process that takes place inside your AC unit as the condensation trickles down into the drain pan. However, it isn’t normal for your AC to sound like it’s running water or have large puddles around it. If that happens, you can try the solutions listed above or call an AC repair pro.
