"Darren Davidson was a gentleman that was given my phone number and came and helped me. He was very pleasant, very knowledgeable, and did what he said he was going to do and when he was going to do it. So if I have to give him a 1 to 10 I will rate him a 10. Thank you for sending him to me."

"We hired them to install drywall after a flood where the lower half of the walls had to be ripped off. They were prompt, courteous, and accommodating. At a first glance, their work seemed to be very good, but the finishing part was not around the plug ins, lower part, and corners."

"Rich was great with our schedule and was very flexible. He was punctual and finished the project quickly. He also did a great job minimizing the dust/fumes in our house by placing barriers to control the workspace. We will definitely hire him in the future for drywall/painting projects."

"This is the second time I have used this company and I highly recommend them. They provided me with a clear and honest estimate and it was right on. The replacement and repair were performed to my satisfaction and the employees were professional and pleasant. I have always found it difficult to find an honest and trustworthy handyman service and I am now glad that I have found this company. I trust their judgement and their work."

"Rphandy was very professional. He researched the problem and discussed the situation with me, and even discovered a third option which not only corrected the problem but saved me time and money. I will be sure to contact him again for future needs and as situations arise."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

A post-drywall inspection could uncover many problems that weren’t present during the pre-drywall inspection, including insufficient insulation, missing weather stripping, improperly installed plumbing and lighting fixtures, flooring damage, drywall damage, plumbing leaks, aesthetic issues, and more. Structural problems, which are often expensive to fix and are common reasons to walk away after a home inspection, are easier to see before the drywall goes up, but a post-drywall inspection may highlight minor issues with house settling and foundation problems.

Drywall can be toxic to the environment and to humans in some cases. As drywall breaks down in a landfill and comes in contact with other organic chemicals, it can create hydrogen sulfide gas or leach into the groundwater. Additionally, the CDC recommends methods for controlling the inhalation of drywall dust when handled. While the common ingredients of drywall—gypsum, silica, and mica—are naturally occurring, they can cause irritation in some humans.

You can plaster over regular drywall, but it's essential to prepare the surface properly. Before plastering, the drywall should be clean, free of dust, and any loose or peeling paint should be removed. Applying a primer specifically designed for plastering can improve adhesion. Some professionals recommend applying a base coat of plaster or joint compound to create a better surface for the plaster to adhere to. Proper preparation ensures a smooth and durable plaster finish over regular drywall.

Yes, you can speed up the time it takes for plaster to dry, but it's important to do so carefully to avoid issues like cracking or crumbling. Proper ventilation is key; open a window or use a fan to circulate air in the room. Heat can also accelerate drying, but be cautious, as too much heat can cause the plaster to dry too quickly and crack. Check the plaster's packaging for the recommended drying temperature and set the room's thermostat accordingly. While managing humidity is important, avoid using a dehumidifier, which can remove moisture too aggressively and result in crumbly plaster.

Drywall anchors won’t work on plaster. Instead, they will more than likely cause more damage and pull out the plaster. The best type of anchors to use on plaster walls are the ones that will bite into the surrounding area, such as molly bolts and toggle bolts. Masonry anchors with expanders on the sides also work for lighter pictures.
