"For starters, was the first of only 2 to answer my request. A big problem in this area is that so many who advertise their services (of any kind) do not answer your inquiries. Arkansas Tree Service promptly came, as promised, to give me a quote and then to do the job. "Contacted Tru Cut and they gave me an estimate within 24hrs.  As I requested (hoping more leaves would fall), they waited one week to do the work.  We have a steep driveway with water run-off "ditches" on either side that go behind the garage and down to the lake.  They cleaned the ditches, our driveway/parking pad, and the back yard.  The job was excellent.  Will definitely hire them again.

You can use herbicides to prevent roots from growing without killing the tree itself, however they must be used with caution. If you’re planning on keeping the tree, unless the roots are invasive, there’s no need to remove them, as doing so can cause damage to the tree. If the tree has been cut down and the stump and roots are left, grinding and removing the stump can cause root decay for some species. For other species, the stump and roots will need to be removed to prevent pests, disease, and possible tree regrowth.

For small trees, tree removal should take just a couple of hours to complete. Assume that a mid-sized tree will take between four and eight hours, depending on the extent of the equipment required and the health of the tree. Remember to add up to two hours for stump removal. Larger trees could take as long as one or two working days, about eight hours each.
