"Gabes Home Solutions contacted me and set up an appointment to put together a treadmill. He presented early and was extremely friendly and explained what he would be doing and how long it might take. He worked quietly and deliberately finishing ahead of schedule. The price he quoted was exactly what he charged. He even helped me to place it where my wife wanted it. Excellent service! He provided me with a list of handyman services that he provided, after I asked and I definitely will be using him again."

"Dimas and his crew always do an excellent job. In addition to maintaining my lawn, they’ve helped with laying mulch and repairing my fence. They’re easy to work with, reliable, and their pricing is fair. I highly recommend them."

"Ronaldo did a good job. I hired him to assist me with repairing the roof on my deck, pressure washing the whole house and painting the deck. He was very polite and knowledgeable about what I needed help with."

"Rob did several projects for me over the span of a week (flooring and trim repairs, screen replacements for windows, playhouse roof repair, toilet fix, and crown molding repair). He was extremely professional and dependable. He gave me all the receipts for all the materials and had an itemized list for all the expenses. I’m very pleased and will definitely use him again and refer him to others."

"The 2 individuals were professional starting with their initial assessment visit. Their projections that referenced necessary materials and time requirements were amazingly accurate which was important to me as I truly wanted the project to be completed in a timely fashion. They accomplished that as promised. They arrived early each day and worked late on most instances. Most important and pleasing for me was their craftmanship. They displayed a total knowledge of my requirements for perfect mitered cuts on each board as EVERY board on my deck consists of 45 degree mitered cuts. The gentlemrn are the eal deal. They are on my forever list. I am very satisfied."

Deck Repair questions, answered by experts

A covered deck can be a good investment that increases your home value—especially if you live in a hot region with a lot of sun. A covering over the deck means you can get more use out of it, even on the hottest summer days. With a permanent deck covering, you can even add ceiling fans to help cool down your deck for added comfort.

The cost to repair a deck is between $900 and $3,500, depending on the cause and extent of the damage. For example, fixing a sinking deck caused by pest damage can cost between $200 and $600, while replacing sinking boards costs between $500 and $4,000.

How long it takes to install composite decking depends on the size of the decking material, the skills of the person installing the deck, the number of people helping, and how much prep work needs to be done before you can begin. Generally speaking, it takes anywhere from a few days to several weeks to build a composite deck.

Yes. Freestanding or floating decks are exactly what the name implies—structures with their own support beams. You can build a deck yourself and place it next to a house for the illusion of a connected deck without the hassle. Or you can construct it in a separate part of your yard for a dedicated outdoor entertainment space. For the purpose of removing a freestanding deck, the steps are the same as an attached deck, but you don’t have to cut the deck away from the home.

Yes, it is generally safe to have a fire pit on a deck, but you must adhere to building codes and take several safety precautions. For both built-in and freestanding models, you must use a heat-resistant barrier, such as a fire pit pad or heat shield, between the pit and the deck. Additionally, consider the weight of the fire pit and ensure your deck can structurally support it, reinforcing it if necessary. The fire pit must also be positioned a safe distance from your house, particularly from materials like vinyl siding, to prevent heat damage.
