At North Alabama Roofing & Restorations, Inc. we believe in quality and satisfaction first. If these two objectives are met, we understand that the profits will be taken care of. We know that each project that we are allowed to complete is that of a home of business owner that is entrusting us to often times, their single largest lifetime investment. Also, projects are often ongoing around precious belongings and even family members. This is why we promise to show proper care, concern, and professionalism that would be required involving our own business, home, and most importantly, our family members.

"This was the worst experience we have ever had with a company in our entire life. Their motto is "Uncommon customer service." Well thank God for that. They sent a crew out on a beautiful Friday afternoon in February. The crew supervisor evidently manages via cell phone because the crew took the shingles off the roof and disappeared. We had to call the supervisor to let him know and he came out hours later and put a tarp over the house. Torrential rains moved in the next day and water poured in to the house through all windows under that section. Well I guess they had to add a restoration division to their company because of situations like this. They removed parts of walls and the crews that they hire just disrespect your house. Furniture banged up, railing banged up; and I guess they just threw down my blinds because blinds were scratched up and the wands were broken. They put my house back together but the workmanship is substandard. In the few months that we have dealt with them there have been so many people that we dealt with that are no longer with the company. It actually took them coming out more than once to get the roof right. Then the owner calls asking for money. Just a heads up:he records the phone call without informing you. Now mind you...they have yet to send a bill yet somehow I am supposed to know how much I owe them. And he is very demanding about getting paid. I have never written a poor review of a company before. We are actually very easy to please. But I urge everyone to avoid this company. They have branches all over North Alabama-just move on."

Chimney Caps questions, answered by experts

Yes, installing a new metal roof will increase your home value. Not only does a new roof boost curb appeal, but a metal roof, in particular, lasts for 40 to 80 years, which is much longer than an asphalt roof. Savvy homebuyers will understand that a metal roof means a longer time before they’ll need to pay for a roof replacement and will likely be willing to pay more for your home.

Roofers most often use nails to fasten roofing shingles and other roofing materials. Nails have more holding power than staples and offer better weather resistance and longevity. However, it is possible to use staples instead of nails when installing a roof. Staples are less expensive, but not as high-quality.

In most cases and locations, roofs with a single layer of asphalt roofing shingles won't require roof removal before installing a metal roof. However, underlayment may be necessary on roofs with moderate shingle damage. Heavily damaged roofs or ones with multiple shingle layers will most likely require removal before a metal roof can go on.

Many states require roofers to be licensed, and some states don’t mandate licensing. You can use Angi’s state licensing tool to check if a roofing company holds the proper licensing for your area. A licensed roofing contractor will provide reliable roof installation service, leading to a reduced risk of leaks in the future, which can be expensive to repair. Paying more for a licensed roofer upfront often means paying less over time.

The average life span of an asphalt-shingled roof is 25 to 30 years. Some roofing materials, like slate, wood, copper, and clay, can last 50 years or more when properly installed and maintained. Regular inspections and maintenance can extend the life of your roof and prevent costly damage, such as cleaning gutters and replacing damaged shingles.
