"We’ve used Jimmy from Coleson Plumbing for years for all of our plumbing projects! Our house was built in 1957 so you can imagine the issues we’ve had over the years. Jimmy and Coleson Plumbing is Honest, Professional, extremely clean, and time after time has always come in at the best price for the job! In the past I would always get stressed calling some random plumber because you are at their mercy like a car mechanic! But, when you call Coleson Plumbing all that anxiety goes away bc they provide quality work for the absolute best price!!!! We have used them for so many different projects in the past because of their attention to detail and quality of work! It’s so refreshing that their are companies such as Coleson Plumbing that still exist today! Jimmy from Coleson Plumbing has replaced all of our Galvanized Pipe with PVC, installed 2 Regulators, replaced our Hot Water Heater with a Tankless Hot water heater and also installed our kitchen and bathroom fixtures and repaired a slow drain we’ve had for the past 10 years that past plumbers could never fix properly! Give him a call or text for an estimate before you go with another plumber and pay thru the roof! You won’t be disappointed!!!"

"Scheduling the appointment was the biggest challenge.  It took a couple of voicemails and calls to get the appointment scheduled.  The technician didn't show up for the first appointment.  I called the office, but didn't get an answer.  After a couple of calls to their cell number, I was able to reach Jan and he let me know they were down a truck that day (Monday) and I would have to reschedule with the office.  When I got in touch with the office, the lady there said she wasn't sure when they would be able to get there since the truck was down.  She said she would call the next day (Tuesday), but didn't.  I called back on Wednesday, and they were able to come out that morning if I could be there.  They arrived as promised and did a great job on everything.  They completed within the two hour time window and cleaned up.  The technicians were very friendly and professional.  I know that trucks break down and schedules have to change, but there should have been better communication from their office.  Once they came out, everything went smoothly."

Drain Cleaning questions, answered by experts

It is not advisable to use drain cleaner in a washing machine. Drain cleaners contain harsh chemicals that can damage the internal components of your washer, including rubber seals, hoses, and even the drum. These chemicals can also react with any residual detergent or fabric softener, potentially leading to noxious fumes. If your washing machine is experiencing drainage issues, it's best to address the problem directly by inspecting and cleaning the lint filter, checking for clogs in the drain hose, or seeking professional repair services. Using drain cleaner in a washing machine is a risky solution that can cause more harm than good.

Usually it’s fine to leave a toilet clogged overnight, as long as it’s not close to overflowing. In some cases, the extra time may give the clog time to work itself out. For example, if it’s caused by an excess of toilet paper, letting it sit could result in the clog dissolving and you may be able to simply flush it away by the time you wake up.

Only let it sit though if you have more than one toilet in the home.

The P-trap (or S-trap in older homes) under your shower is designed to prevent sewer gas from coming back up, so you shouldn’t normally experience foul odors coming from your shower drain. If you do, the vent stack that introduces air into your plumbing system may be clogged, or you may have a more severe sewer main blockage. In either case, hire a plumber to fix the issue for you.

The cost to unclog a drain varies based on the location and severity of the clog. For simple clogs within your home, such as in a sink, toilet, or shower, hiring a plumber typically costs between $110 and $350, with an average of around $200. Snaking a toilet or sink usually costs between $110 and $275, while a bathtub or shower clog costs about $225.

For a more serious clog in the main sewer line, the cost is higher. Clearing a main line clog generally costs between $200 and $600, with an average of about $380. However, prices can range from as low as $100 for snaking a minor clog to over $1,600, particularly if advanced methods like video inspection and hydrojetting are needed for a large or hard-to-reach blockage. Some severe main line clogs can cost upwards of $1,000 to clear depending on factors like the cause of the clog, its distance from an accessible cleanout, and whether the pipe is located beneath an occupied space (e.g., in an apartment building). You may be able to save money on minor clogs by using a drain snake or bladder yourself.

Using less toilet paper is the easiest way to prevent future clogs. Also, avoid flushing sanitary products, thick paper towels, or hair down the toilet. If you’ve been using a brick in the tank to reduce the water used to flush the toilet, take it out immediately. Bricks will eventually fall apart and clog your toilet drain. Keeping your toilet lid closed also helps avoid future clogs.
