"They were so kind & so hard working. It took at least two days & they took another tree down in the process. They were nice & respectful. I was so impressed with them. They were on time, hard working – I was amazed! They saved the wood for me & stacked it & cleaned up well after themselves after the job was done."

I’ve been working in landscaping for 5-6 years with my father and he has more than 20 years of experience in landscaping. We are a family owned business and my father has worked for two landscaping companies and those companies are Montgomery landscaping and Golden Landscapes. We've done irrigation and drainage work in multiple locations in alabama, we also do trimming, mulch, and straw. We do work in Montgomery, Wetumpka, Prattville, Millbrook, Alabaster, and any other city in the state of Alabama. We are very well versed in trimming ,irrigation and drainage systems, and laying sod and installing shrubs, trees and flowers. We take pride in our work and we cater to every aspect of what the client asks of us and we always ask for the clients opinion of the project before we finish. I believe we should be hired because of are amazing work ethic and experience we have in doing landscaping and our top priority will be to satisfy all clients with any project they have for us to complete.

"Mr. McKnight and crew came through for us BIG TIME! Where we live it’s difficult to find underground irrigation specialists. McKnight crew answered our protect add and the SAME DAY they arrived to scout out the project and give us an estimate. A day later they came and completed the job and even threw in a freebie at no cost. I HIGHLY recommend McKnights and they’ll be our “go to” company for all our landscaping needs."

Excavating questions, answered by experts

Whether you grind or dig up and remove your tree stump depends on your landscaping goals. Using a stump grinder leaves the root system in place for it to decompose over time, whereas digging up the tree stump removes the roots and the stump. Overall, stump grinding is a far simpler process since you won’t need to deal with the roots. Stump removal will make your yard look like a demolition site, but you’ll have an easier time replanting in the same place as your former tree.

If you don’t wish to dig it out and convert it into a finished basement, you can still encapsulate your crawl space to protect it from damage for an average cost of $5,500. Finishing a crawl space beyond this isn’t really worthwhile, as the low ceilings mean you won’t be able to use the area as living space.

Excavation and grading are both generally necessary for designing your foundation, and leveling the ground where your foundation will go. These steps can also prepare the area by removing vegetation and anything else that could interfere with your home’s foundation.

Septic drain lines (or leach lines) are typically buried between 18 and 36 inches underground, and should be at least 6 inches below the surface. These pipes are perforated and surrounded by filtering materials like sand or gravel. Burying the lines at this depth helps minimize odors and allows bacteria and other biological processes in the soil to effectively treat the wastewater. Burying lines too close to the surface can cause issues unless the soil is very compact and stable.

Directional drilling is complex and requires training to use the advanced machinery. It can be challenging to monitor the position of the drill since there’s no direct line of sight. Directional drilling can also be more expensive with a cost of $10 to $30 per linear foot compared to $5 to $12 per linear foot for trenching.
