"They do a wonderful job on my lawn and even were able to cut up a tree that fell in my yard. They cleaned up the debris and stacked up the firewood too!"

"The men from Matthew and Jody's were thorough, explained their estimates, carefully examined my yard for other trees that might need to be removed in the future, and their prices were more than fair. Their estimate was hundreds of dollars less than the other two companies I contacted.
They cut up and hauled off the trees they removed, then used a blower to make sure the yard was as clean as possible.
They followed up afterwards to be sure that their work was satisfactory.
I highly recommend them for their honesty, integrity, fair-pricing, and the quality of their work.

"This is a serious professional business. They immediately replied to my search, came and saw my problem but gave me more solutions to fix my issue that actually saved me half the cost I would have spent with my original plan. They gave me several options and I cannot be any more satisfied with the results. In fact, I definitely plan to use them again. They explained everything and completed in a very timely manner."

Excavating questions, answered by experts

A mini excavator can dig between 5 and 11 feet deep, depending on the type and size of the mini excavator. Mini hydraulic excavators are more powerful and can reach deeper into the earth, but electric models have a more limited range. Mini excavators over two tons in size are also more powerful and able to dig as deep as 11 feet.

Yes, professional installations include trenching or borehole drilling required for ground loops.

Most residential basements are 8 to 10 feet deep. You can dig deeper depending on building codes, but it does become more difficult. You’ll likely need to install stronger foundation walls and additional supports to handle the increased load. Depending on the water table, you may also need a water management system. Clay soil can support a deeper foundation than sandy soil. A structural engineer will be able to tell you the maximum, feasible depth.

The best type of soil to build on is a mixture of sand and clay, known as loam soil. Loam soil has the best combination of these soil types to build a foundation on. The clay particles help with water retention, so it won’t erode like sandy soil might, and the sandy particles help with drainage, so you won’t see unsafe soil expansion or have an increased risk of leaks from water sitting against your foundation.

Digging out a basement takes anywhere from a few days to a few months. Most projects take at least two to five weeks, but it could take several months if you encounter obstacles. This project takes longer if you need to brace or raise your home before the excavation. Digging out a basement in new construction can take as little as three days.
