"I hired Neli over a week period for 3 different appliances, my dryer, washing machine, dishwasher, and even kitchen sink! I had a fantastic experience: 1. I fixed my dryer with Thomas' excellent remote guidance, changing the timer and the switch! Fabulous guidance Thomas, with lots of money saved! I learned a lot in the process. 2. I determined that there was no dishwasher leak and in the process learned how to check for leaks and trouble shoot for some common repair issues. It cost $40.00 but as I had some water on the floor, I was ready to get a new dishwasher. Now, I am confident that it wasn't a leak and caused by putting in the dishes in a funny manner and not a repair issue. I am using the dishwasher now again with no problem. 3. I determined with Thomas' help that the washing machine had a major problem and could have spun out of control into my wall....no question, it was time to get a new washing machine! This was a well spent $40.00--I even got Thomas advice on purchasing a new washing machine and what to look for. 4. I checked the drainage on my kitchen sink and learned how to empty out the "trap" and that most likely, I am okay, but what to swap out if I have continuing issues with slow drainage. In the end, I saved lots of money, gaining and learning valuable experience! Absolutely fabulous service!"

"We had a plumbing leak that 2 plumbers did not identify, but Corey Fortner at AFS was able to identify, despite that being outside of their typical job scope. We appreciate y’all!"

"I called concerning low water pressure and no hot water to the back of my home. When they arrived I told them there was low water pressure and the back of the home was not getting hot water. The checked in the attic and checked the temperature on the water heater. Not one time did they go to the back of the home where the problem was. They told me everything was fine on the water heater by checking the sink directly under the heater for temperature, not the area I was having problems in. Furthermore I kept stating I was having a low pressure issue. Finally they went to the street and dug up the adjustment valve. The issue I have here is the fact they did not have a gauge to check the water pressure, which is the main reason I called. Had I not had a gauge this work could not of been accomplished. After they turned up the pressure to over 100psi, they informed me they are not responsible for any damage they may cause. I informed them the pressure needs to be at the proper level so as not to damage any of my plumbing. Once everything was set the bill was paid, no receipt was given and they went on their way."

"

I am very happy with the service provided by Dream Baths. Mr. Thornton met me at my house at the agreed upon time and went over all the details about the service and helped me to pick out exactly what I wanted. The timing was very important. The work had to be done by Christmas. Mr. Thornton guaranteed it would be and he kept his promise. He called several times to let me know just exactly where they were in their schedule and when they would be able to come to my house.

I was surprised by the cost, but I guess any renovation is not cheap and you do get want you pay for.

The work is exceptional. It looked as if the bathroom was originally constructed that way. You cannot tell that any construction has been done. Everything was done to my specifications. The workers were not told that I wanted the plumbing reversed, but after verifying this with Mr. Thornton, they started over and did it exactly the way I wanted it done. The two men who worked on the bathroom were very professional. I would highly recommend Dream Baths.

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can change a bathtub faucet without changing the valve, as long as the new faucet is compatible with your existing valve system. Most manufacturers design their faucet trims (handles and spouts) to work with their standard valve bodies. However, you'll need to match the new faucet to your valve type, whether it's a compression, cartridge, or ball-type valve. Mixing brands can be problematic, but you can bring your old faucet parts to the hardware store and ask about compatibility.

Brown stains in your toilet bowl are most likely limescale. Limescale happens from lime being left behind from hard water evaporating. Once dried out, the minerals also catch dirt and bacteria which eventually accumulate into the brown or blackish stain you see in your toilet. To remove thick and hard limescale from your toilet, use a mixture of vinegar, lemon juice, and baking soda, and scrub with a metal scrubbing brush.

During the winter, pipeworks constrict and don't expand until warm weather comes. If it doesn't get very cold where you live, but you're still having a problem getting outdoor faucet handles to turn, there's probably a build-up under the handle. Mineral build-up is especially common in areas with hard water. Limescale causes faucets and stems to become resistant to turning. Worn parts and debris can also make it impossible to turn a faucet.

Water backing up in your bathtub could be a clog in the bathtub drain, but it could also signal a problem somewhere else in your plumbing system. Blocked vent pipes caused by leaves, bird nests, or other debris,  along with blocked sewer lines that are damaged or have tree roots could cause backups in various fixtures.

Replacing a main water shut-off valve costs anywhere from $300 to $1,000, or more depending on your project’s specifications. You’ll need to replace the shut-off valve if the size of the pipe changes (as is common with trenchless replacement) or the material used in the new pipes isn’t compatible with the valve.
