"Great. The tech walked me through the diagnosis using the video chat app, and sent me a link to buy the part I need. I will install it myself."

"Fantastic! Installers were professional, on time even after the snow storm. Friendly. I wanted to fix them lunch but...they were only there to install my tub. Worth the investment. I agree with the 5.0 ratings listed on this review."

"AFS salesman Steve came to our house in Mobile, AL, measured the altitude of various points throughout the house, entered these into his computer, and (on the spot) gave us a computer generated, professional-looking estimate of his recommended plan of repair based on the measured elevations throughout the house.  We asked for both recent and several-year-old references.  Though some had complaints, they weren't really substantial and all recommended AFS.  Our neighbor had tried a poured concrete repair, but due to our soil type, had to have it re-done with AFS.  His painful experience was in our favor (and it was actually the poured concrete company that recommended AFS to us).  I gave them a B in punctually, because they had to delay our work by one week, because of hard rain that caused delay on another job; not their fault, but it inconvenienced me a lot.  I gave them a B on price, because it was really expensive; their price is probably fair, because of their large staff, the work they had to do, and the lifetime guarantee - so I still gave them an overall A.  Of course, time will tell if we are really happy and I'll update this rating later either way.  Our house varied by 3 inches in elevation from front to back; the settling had accelerated at a terrifying speed for several months.  The work they did, did not lift the house as much as I'd liked, but if they had lifted it more, they would have risked cracking the foundation.  They raised it some and stabilized the house from future settling.  The work was done 2 weeks ago and the house is still repositioning itself.  Some areas have continued to improve.  We plan on waiting at least 2 months before we re-hang doors or fix the remaining plaster cracks.  I highly recommend Steve, we were honest with him and he was honest with us.  He worked with the company engineers to cut down on the number of piers we would need and saved us money.  I would want to caution the readers about two things.  1) if you are getting a loan to do this, estimate 2-3 pier sections more than the two 7 foot pier sections AFS uses in its estimate; our work took over 2 sections more per hole. 2) The crew will drive a 5 foot wide bob cat along your foundation to install the helical piers.  They will remove and replace your shrubs, fence, deck stairs, etc, and put them back; but their way may not be your way.  If you have certain expectations, remove them yourself.  I was glad that we removed our deck stairs ourselves; we found out that they were too old to remove and put back and I would have been mad if they had turned our "beautiful" deck stairs into the splinters we did.  Steve happens to be a carpenter and offered to bring his saw and help us cut 3 new stringers the next time he is in the area.  I'm happy.
I have tried to keep all hyperbole out of my rating and give you only the facts."

"I compared prices and since they had serviced old unit before, they provided a much better price than any of the competitors. In addition they took off the cost of the Thermostat when I went and bought a Wi-Fi thermostat -- and still took the time to install the system that wasn't theirs. They were punctual and professional, as well as accurate their time needed for installation. They provided regarding aspects of insulation and installation of unit. To top it off they even allowed me to borrow a couple of tools since I was doing some other home repairs. Even offered a military discount upon request.

"GFG responded within an hour to a quote request on Home Advisor and owner Mr. Drake provided me with a quote that was $500 less than the quote from the Home Depot contractor. Mr. Drake was professional, knowledgeable, and answered all my questions and concerns. After I decided to upgrade to a better water heater with a longer warranty the GFG quote was still $300 cheaper than the Home Depot quote. We scheduled an installation for the following Monday even though Mr. Drake was ready to do it the next morning. At 8:17 Monday morning Frank showed up with the new water heater and immediately went to work. Frank was very personable, easy to talk to, answered all my questions, and explained what he was going to do before he did it. I like to learn and Frank was an excellent teacher and did not mind my intrusions. Since Prattville (and maybe the entire state) now require temperature expansion device (tank or valve) on new water heater installs I was a little concerned about where the tank would go and how it would look. Frank had to do some re plumbing to accommodate the new expansion tank and the 2.5" taller water heater. Everything looks great and the setup looks much more professional and squared away than the job done by the previous plumber. I am a very picky person and this installation exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend Frank and GFG Contractors. Also, according to Frank, Mr. Drake is a Marine Veteran so that is just another reason that I am happy I hired GFG Contractors."

"My installer Samuel was top notch, very detailed, pleasant, answered all my questions. Excellent representative. The only problem I had was miscommunication on their end as I was told available payment options and Samuel was told another. Did not affect installation or quality of work at all."

"They ran into numerous obstacles, thru no fault of their own, which required them to spend several hours longer on the installation. They discovered three inches of concrete (and wire mesh) concealed beneath the tile counter top that had to be hand chiseled with a screwdriver to remove and they managed to do it without breaking a single tile. It required patience and ingenuity to compete a job that just seemed to get worse by the hour. Through all this they were very patient and professional the entire time and the job was completed beautifully. They honored the original estimate despite the much extended labor. I highly recommend them and they will be returning to our home in a few weeks to complete more work for us. The cost of service does not include the vessel sinks or faucets. We purchased/ordered them prior to calling for an estimate, but it does include all additional necessary plumbing supplies."

FAQs for boiler installation projects in Pine Level, AL

The average cost to install a new water heater is around $1,300, but you can expect to pay between $875 and $1,750, depending on the kind of water heater, the size of the unit, and the professional chosen to complete the work. Tankless water heaters can push your price higher, as installation is more complicated, with prices as high as $3,500. The location and accessibility of your water heater will play a role in the project cost, as those sitting in tight spaces like a crawl space will drive up your labor costs.

Yes, most states require plumbers to be licensed, and for good reason. Hiring an unlicensed plumber could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations.

As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:

  • The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check

  • Required to have applicable state and local licenses

  • Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review

  • Paying to advertise their services

  • Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi

Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.

It usually takes a professional water heater installer between two and three hours to remove an existing water heater and install a new tank heater. However, it could take four to five hours if they have to work in a small utility closet or another tight area, like a crawl space. Tankless water heaters have a more complicated installation process, so they will take a bit longer. Additionally, a gas water heater requires a connection to a gas line, and that alone can add about an hour to the installation timeline compared to installing an electric water heater.

It is very difficult and dangerous to install your own water heater, so we strongly recommend against tackling this as a DIY project. Not only will you need to wire your water heater, but you’ll also need to connect plumbing to the intake and outlet. Sweating copper pipes and connecting wiring properly are skills most DIYers don’t have, and even if you do feel confident you can do it, working with water and electricity always leaves the potential for electrocution. Hiring a local water heater installer is well worth the investment.

The average cost to hire a plumber is around $100 an hour but can vary between $45 and $200 an hour depending on the plumber’s experience and the repair that you need. It’s also important to note that these prices can go up on holidays, and emergency plumber rates average $150 per hour, in addition to a flat-rate trip fee of $100 to $350
