"Highly recommend! They were punctual, worked with a real sense of urgency, and kept me informed throughout the entire process. Their pricing was fair, they were honest and transparent from start to finish, and the quality of their work exceeded my expectations. "Michael and Lester Cobb have done three re-roofs for our home renovation business, Rollins Crawford Properties. They did the roof on the home where we live. They also maintain the roofs that we havenâ t yet redone. Cobb roofing is our only roofer, and we have choices. Their work is top-flight, and if you do happen to have a problem with anything, they are on the spot to get it the way you want it. Call Michael and get that roof done!"

"All around great service, very professional and straight forward experience. From evaluation of roof condition and or damage, to working with the insurance adjuster to help determine replacement over repair options, Dunlop Roofing was top notch and did a wonderful job installing my new roof in just one day. An awesome company that I fell comfortable recommending."

"I was having issues with a roof leak. I wanted it looked at before next rain. Marcus immediately called. Came to look and was prepared to fix any problems when he arrived. He fully explained what he found, how he would repair it, and with video/pictures. He was able to give me a quote and was able to repair items immediately. He provided me with an invoice and said to call if there were any issues with leaking after the next rain. I couldn’t be happier with the professionalism and promptness of service."

"These people were hired to replace my roof and do inside sheetrock repair and painting. They sent two four man crews, one for the roof and one for the sheetrock and painting with work performed on the same days making the disruption short and efficient. All work was performed with respect and care and the results were very professional. So professional I hired them to paint my outside trim, gutters and garage. If you want a company that comes to get the job done and not waste time, think of them. The quality of all the work was excellent and the disruption for work was short with two crews working."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Yes, in many cases, homeowners insurance does cover roof damage caused by snow. For instance, if your roof collapses during a snowstorm or an ice dam results in a ceiling leak, your policy should cover repair costs. However, for a claim to be approved, the roof must have been well-maintained and in good condition before the snow-related damage occurred. The payout, whether full or partial, can also vary depending on the age of your roof and its overall condition prior to the snowfall. It is always best to review your specific homeowners insurance policy to understand the details of your coverage and any potential exclusions.

Concrete tile roofs last for an average of 50 years, but you could see more than that if you’re diligent about repairs, roof inspections, and maintenance to avoid major damages. Concrete tile roofs are prone to cracking, so they may not last as long without needing repairs in areas with extreme weather, especially hail.

The lifespan of a torch down roof depends on the number of layers installed. A single-ply system typically lasts between 10 and 15 years, while a multi-layer system with two or three layers can last from 15 to 25 years. Although a multi-layer option may be more expensive upfront, it provides a longer service life. Warranties often reflect this, with about 12 years for a one-ply system and 15 years for a two-ply system. For context, this lifespan is shorter than other common roofing materials like wood or asphalt shingles, which typically last 20 to 30 years, with high-quality versions lasting up to 50 years.

Gable vents are more common in older homes built before the 1970s. Homes built after this era use ridge vents or soffits, but you can sometimes find homes with both gable and ridge vents. Gable vents can have a purely aesthetic purpose, while ridge vents hide in the roof shingles so air can flow under the roof while keeping the attic dry.

You can think of a flat roof as a green roof, as it does offer some environmentally-friendly advantages. When considering an eco-friendly flat roof, some of the green roof pros and cons include that you could place a garden with plants on the flat roof. Manufacturers may use recycled materials in the construction of the flat roof for an eco-friendly design.
