"Trevor has been an amazing contractor who has helped us through the process of installing a large interior door for an office. He has helped ensure the space was properly prepared for installation of the door. The other contractors who have assisted Trevor have also exceeded my expectations. They have been extremely detail oriented and have done everything to ensure the best outcome. I would definitely work with Trevor for any future projects."

"Shawn is very hardworking and honest. We were very impressed with his determination to complete tasks well and in a timely manner, even when the weather was very hot. His goal was to please us, help us with wise advice to work through some areas without creating more problems for ourselves, and was always kind and friendly. He has been willing to readdress the very small areas that seemed to need it at no added cost, even when it proved not to be the direct result of his work (new gutters stopped up faster than expected, so he cleaned them out for us)."

"We cannot recommend Dream Baths and Charlie Thornton highly enough!  We had a bathroom that had been all but non-functional for seven years because of a water issue.  We needed a complete remodel.  Before we talked to Charlie, the estimates we received from three other contractors were astronomical.  We were so discouraged.  Charlie's team did fantastic work within a budget that we could afford.  We now have a beautiful bathroom.  It is everything we wanted.  The team, primarily Charlie, Jr. and Josh, was punctual and so polite.  They worked very hard to finish in a timely manner and always cleaned up after themselves.  The quality of the work is excellent.  We would definitely use Dream Baths again.  If you are losing hope that you can afford to redo your bathroom, call Charlie!

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Building involves setting foundation posts, framing with durable wood, adding roofing support, and protecting from elements with water-resistant finishes.

House framing can be expensive because the materials are pricey, and the job requires a high level of expertise. The more complex the plans, the more expensive the job, but even the most basic frame needs to be installed with high-quality materials and precision. When pricing your home’s framework, remember that a sturdy frame is necessary to create a safe structure.

In framing, studs are placed at 16-inch intervals to coincide with the typical spacing of wall materials such as drywall or plywood. This spacing is called "on-center" and is necessary for maintaining structural stability and efficient use of materials. The 16-inch spacing also helps to distribute the weight evenly across the building's structure. For those looking to cut material costs and improve energy efficiency, 24-inch stud spacing can be employed through a method called "advanced framing". This requires careful planning and adherence to local building codes to ensure structural integrity.

Carpenters are trained to take on a wide range of home projects. You can hire a carpenter to do framing, roofing, build custom furniture, and make significant upgrades to your home. General carpenters are usually able to handle most jobs. However, you may also choose to hire a carpenter who specializes in a specific type of carpentry.

Learning how to frame a house includes picking the right lumber for the job. Most people will want to pick pine, spruce, or fir for the framing. These types of lumber are affordable and produce sturdy framing for structures. Look for kiln-dried lumber to reduce the risk of shrinkage or insect damage after installation. As part of what’s included in framing a house when you hire a professional, the contractor should order the lumber, so you don’t have to worry about finding the right lumber.
