"Rep agreed to remove existing hardwire so that I could use solar lights. I assumed that he would remove the 2 lights on the line but he didn't. Now I, at age 82, have to figure out how to remove them."

"Regarding the service, responsiveness, and professionalism, I have nothing but good things to say. But all I needed was a light fixture installed and because the wiring in my place is a bit peculiar, I wanted to make sure everything was set up correctly. It was, and the electrician finished installing the fixture to the tune of a couple hundred dollars...which was quite a bit for about 10min of work. In hindsight, this was more of a job for a handyman. Alas, beyond the price, I have nothing but good things to say."

"We had our kitchen remodeled 2 bathrooms and installed vinyl windows and led recessed lights. We where vary pleased with the work and time that the project was completed in. Very reasonably priced, clean and no overages at the end of the day that is much more then I can say for our last contractor! Definitely would recommend Prime Management for any remodeling or home improvement services"

Lighting questions, answered by experts

Pool lights are designed to be safe by protecting swimmers from electrocution. These lights are made with waterproof fixtures and seals to prevent contact with the water.

Electrocution from pool lights is still possible, but rare. Faulty wiring or broken lighting equipment can make lights unsafe, so it’s important to replace lights as needed and have an electrician inspect and upgrade the wiring.

Yes, outdoor lights and receptacles should be on a ground-fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) for safety. The outdoors is considered a wet location where GFCI protection is generally required. A GFCI enhances safety by automatically tripping and shutting off the circuit if it detects an imbalance, which protects against electrocution and reduces the risk of an electrical fire. While it is the safest approach for all outdoor electrical components, specific requirements can vary depending on the type of light (e.g., pool lights), its location, and local electrical codes. For guidance tailored to your specific situation, it's best to consult a professional electrician.

There are tons of different types of landscape lighting available, including the choice between solar and wired, incandescent and LED, and a variety of colors. Specific types of lighting include:

  • Pathway lights: $50–$150 per fixture

  • String lights: $50–$150

  • Low-voltage lights: $90–$150 per fixture

  • Porch lights: $65–$250 per fixture

  • Floodlights: $75–$250 per fixture

  • Downlights: $100–$400 per fixture

  • Uplights: $100–$400 per fixture

  • Security lights: $ 350–$500 per fixture

  • Lamp posts: $400–$1,100 per lamp post

If you need to visually inspect your Christmas lights to determine which are good and which need replacement, there are a few things to look for. First, look for discoloration, such as a dark spot or two on the inside of the glass. The spot is an indication of a burnt filament. Also, look for missing filaments, cracked bulb glass, and broken sockets.

Inspect for burnt-out bulbs, secure connections, and protect from water exposure to maintain functionality.
