"Jeff came out to the office to assess a cabinet that was damaged due to water damage. He was reliable and efficient in taking care of the damaged cabinet and restoring it to as good or better than new! Jeff was very personable and I wouldn?t hesitate to recommend him to anyone with a small or complex job. Jeff has the knowledge and tools to take care of whatever the project entails. "

"The work itself was excellent - the workman was courteous and meticulous. My patio was expertly patched and painted. The person who communicates with clients is very prompt, AND he could improve the quality of his professional communication. He answers the phone very casually ('this is Tim') rather than with the name of his company. He never once referred to me by name, which suggests that he may not pay attention to such things. He gave me an unrealistic estimate of the time it would take to complete the job given the tasks required (though the person who performed the work affirmed that it would take two days). Though I had given him a paint card with the color and number, he was unsure what color I had chosen and waited until after 11am on the day the painting was scheduled to take place to call me and confirm. A more efficient approach would have been to follow up with me yesterday so that the workman could possibly have gotten an earlier start. "

Plaster Repair questions, answered by experts

Drywall can be better than plaster if you’re installing a new wall and want to keep costs low. It’s much cheaper than installing plaster and provides a smooth, uniform surface. Many homeowners simply paint over the drywall or add a texture like sand or orange peel. It’s also much easier to DIY than plaster, and if you need to change your layout, it’s much easier to remove.

Once you’ve contained the leak, the average cost to repair a ceiling ranges from $419 to $1,359. But small ceiling patches can cost around $150. The cost to fix a leak in the ceiling will depend on the size of the affected area and the extent of the damage. As always, a pro is the best person to give you a quote on your specific situation.

Inspect regularly for cracks, clean gently with a damp cloth, and repaint as needed to maintain appearance.

This depends on how much plaster is applied and in how many layers, but a decent estimate is around 150 square feet. If you are applying only two coats on a small wall, there is a chance you may only need one or two gallons for the entire project. If you are plastering a large living room wall with high ceilings, using one of the more involved techniques–like Scagliola–that requires several coats, expect the project materials costs to add up quickly.

You can put certain types of plaster over other types, but doing so isn't always the best idea. For example, putting a coat of gypsum over lime plaster is possible, but doing so will limit the lime plaster's breathability and potentially affect its performance.

Since cement plaster tends to leave a textured surface, no matter how much you smooth it, some people prefer to use gypsum plaster as a topcoat over cement plaster, creating a smoother surface.
