CEDAR SIDING - STRIPPING / RE-FINISHING WENT REASONABLY WELL AND 2-3 YEARS LATER STILL LOOKS GOOD. CON: THEIR ARE A FEW PLACES WHERE THE FUNGUS WAS NOT COMPLETED REMOVED. THEY ALSO LEFT A FAIR AMOUNT OF PULP IN THE CHANNELS VIA THE STRIPPING PROCESS. THE PAINT ON GARAGE DOORS BUBBLED UP AND HAD TO BE RE-PAINTED. THIS COMPANY WAS NON-RESPONSIVE WHEN I CONTACTED THEM ABOUT THE PROBLEMS WITH THE GARAGE DOORS, SO I AM IN THE PROCESS OF STRIPPING THE DOORS AND RE-FINISHING THEM MYSELF. I selected Jay Kriner's company about 10-days before my household goods would be delivered to my new home. The epoxy paint requires 7-days to cure. Jay had two of his experienced painters start my job 9-days before my movers arrived. They did a fantastic job of prepping the floor by grinding it, and sealing the cracks, and painting it. It was a perfect job when they finished applying 2 coats of epoxy paint, a layer of Deco-Flakes, and a final clearcoat of polyurethane paint. They put plastic film on both sides of the laundry room door, that opens into the garage, to restrict the intrusion of volatile epoxy and solvent fumes into the house. They will be my go-to company for my future painting projects. After checking the garage door opener, etc., I noticed one of the 2 springs broken. The springs were last replaced 13 years ago (long survival for such springs.) We were leaving town Wednesday of that week, so I hoped we could get the spring fixed before leaving. One car in the garage, one outside, luckily. The door is too heavy to easily lift without the spring assist. After checking online several companies, I called Garage Doors of Alaska on Sunday to leave a message. Later that day, I received a call back from Everette Calkins. Much to my surprise, he said one of his employees would be over Monday morning. Monday morning, he called back to say that the employee had a class and could not make it, but he would be there himself to fix the door. He came soon after with an assistant, and they quickly replaced both springs. Keep an old spring with a new one is not a good idea. I was very pleased with the speed and quality of the work, and their friendliness. The door opens and closes with ease. We were able to take our trip knowing we would be able to get back into our garage. Note, we are in Anchorage, and he came from Wasilla, an extra tribute to the service. FAQs for garage door service projects in Soldotna, AK
Garage door repairs cost$260 on average but can range anywhere from $80 to $675. Factors such as the type of repair needed, the style of your garage door, and the material your door is made of all play a part in the final price tag.
For example, wood garage doors look beautiful but are prone to dents, splitting, and cracks that are difficult to fix. You can expect to spend an average of $200 to $300 to repair your wooden garage door. Fiberglass garage doors are more durable and less expensive to fix, averaging around $100 to $200.
The cost of replacing garage door panels is around $1,200 for the average homeowner. However, depending on a few factors, you could pay as little as $250 or as much as $3,000 or more. Considerations like panel style and the type of garage door you have all factor into what you pay.
While sectional garage doors are common among homeowners, they are often the most expensive to replace, averaging around $700 to $2,400. Tilt-up garage doors, which are the simplest door available, range from $400 to $1,400.
Annual to biannual routine garage door maintenance is vital to extending its life as much as possible. Most importantly, noticing any unusual sounds or movements and taking care of them as soon as possible is one of the best ways to maintain your garage door. Keeping the tracks clear of dirt and debris and lubricating the rollers and other moving parts twice a year will also help to get the most out of your door.
Even though garage doors can last 15 to 30 years, it’s important to recognize the signs of wear and tear or other damage that might cause the need for a repair or replacement. A big sign that your garage door needs repair or replacement is the door not opening and closing correctly, including moving slower than usual. Also, if you notice that your garage door is becoming warped or overly weathered, it’s time to call a professional to discuss your options and tips for buying a new garage door.
Garage doors generally last between 15 to 30 years, depending on many factors. Your location plays an essential role in your garage door’s lifespan—doors exposed to harsh elements like heavy rain or intense heat might not last as long as those installed in a milder climate. How often you use your garage door also factors into its overall lifespan. Generally, standard garage door springs can withstand 20,000 cycles, whereas tension springs typically last between 5,000 and 10,000.
