"I would highly recommend Earhart. Our roofing job was a big one – replacing an old cedar shake roof with architectural series asphalt shingle. Mike from Earhart came out to do an estimate within a day of my call. He helpfully left sample boards so we could spend some time deciding on the shingle we’d like. The estimate was emailed to us within a couple of days and, when I compared Earhart’s estimate against the other three I’d gotten, I found they were the best priced (in fact, for the exact same shingle, underlayment and process, Earhart came in $8,000 less than a very well-known local company). The job was started on time and finished within the time frame they gave me. The new roof looks fantastic and the guys on site did a pretty good job cleaning up - do be prepared that a job that big doesn't happen without a few bumps and roofing often creates some collateral issues with landscaping (debris in shrubs, broken limbs here and there, etc.) and sometimes gutters. But here is another reason I’d hire Earhart again: service after the sale (meaning after I’d written the check!). There was an issue with our lock down chimney damper while the roofers were installing chimney cap – Earhart worked with my chimney repair person and took care of that bill. Weeks later when I noticed water overflowing from a couple of gutters, Earhart had their guys here within 2 hours of my phone call to fix the issue (tightening the attachment of one and cleaning debris out of another). That’s great service in my book."

Why replace your roof when you can recondition it to last 5 to 15 years longer?! Asphalt shingle rejuvenation turns the clock back on your roof restoring the flexibility, granular adhesion, and color as if it were almost like new again. The technology behind Shingle Rejuvenation has been used on asphalt roads for years and is now available to extend the life of your roof! As an added bonus for Alaskans, the product can be applied with zinc sulfate to kill existing moss and prevent future moss growth. While replacing the average Anchorage roof could cost from $12,000-$16,000, roof rejuvenation costs between $1,750-$2,250. Save your money and give us a call, your roof needs it!

"Yes it is completed it took about 3 hours to do"

Roofing questions, answered by experts

There’s no single best roofing material for flat roofs, but EPDM is considered an excellent option because it lasts longer than TPO roofing and built-up roofing, and it’s the most adaptive to extreme temperatures and variations in temperature. EPDM can also be highly energy-efficient at both ends of the climate spectrum, with black EPDM helping to reduce heating bills and white EPDM helping to keep your building cool in extreme summer temperatures.

Most architectural shingles last for between 20 and 30 years in areas that see strong winds or hailstorms, and many come with manufacturer warranties for specific extreme weather that last for between 30 and 50 years, though this long of a life span is rare. Given that homeowners usually upgrade to architectural shingles in areas that come with a higher risk of roof damage, scheduling a roof inspection to determine your roof’s remaining life is a good idea.

The number of roof vents necessary for a 2,000-square-foot house depends on several factors. The calculation depends on the net free area within the attic and whether your municipality requires a 1/150 or a 1/300 ratio of venting square feet to attic square feet. If you install vents with a square-foot opening of one, you'll need either 14 or seven exhaust vents and an equal square-foot amount of intake vents.

Yes, many chimney professionals offer cap installations to prevent debris buildup and animal entry.

You should plan on waiting as long as it takes for the roof deck to dry out completely if it gets wet. In most cases, this will take about 24 hours, but it could take longer if you have shading on your roof or cloudy weather after the rainfall that prevents the sun from drying the material.
