Recent Review:
Plumbers had to remove a concrete walkway to repair a leak. I had Mr. Handyman of North Central San Antonio come out to the property to examine the repair and give me a bid for the repair. Bob came over promptly. His crew did a great job. They demolished 14 feet of walkway, leveled the base, applied rebar and poured the new sidewalk using a cement mixer. I looks like brand new. The work crew was well informed and friendly. I will be using this company in the future. Cost was $2,600. Well worth it to have it done right. On a separate job he put up Christmas lights and took them down after Christmas. He did a good job and we were jery satisfied.

Veteran Electric contacted me and scheduled appointment immediately after I submitted my request through Angie’s List. Veteran Electric arrived when scheduled and Jonathan (electrician) explained why my kitchen light was no longer working. Jonathan explained the installation of the ceiling fans and then provided a price for the work to be done. He was friendly and professional. Jonathan cleaned up work areas and disposed of my broken light fixture.

SCHNABEL'S HARDWAREWhat I needed were the correct pieces, and this is what Schnoabel's had. One of the staff said he'd be happy to do the work, he was the "lamp repair" guy. I ended up doing it myself so I can't talk to his work, but, they do have a broad selection of parts, and onsite expertise. Good luck!- Brian H.

Bob's Fix It PlaceThis Thursday, we attached a large population of ants we found in a fern bed. (incidentally I employ a exterminating service & they missed this one) Bob cleaned the fern bed (no small task) and applied the ant killer product. Then we went back to organizing my garage. My wife had Bob scheduled to paint a backyard chair, but (fortunately for me) it rained. The project was put on the list for next Thursday Would I recommend him, of course. Straight forward, honest and tells you what he can and cannot do. I've had some "handyman services rip me off or not show up. He's a jewel. .- Paul B.

SCHNABEL'S HARDWARESchnabels is a great hardware store in the tradition of small hardware stores. Staff is pleasant and always helpful. I was looking for a replacement pot lid and could find a suitable one in the big box stores. While looking at Schnabels, a staff member offered to fix the lid for me. It was ready the next day. SCHNABEL'S HARDWAREI purchased a pair of Stiffel lamps at an auction. One diffuser was missing. One of the lamps had had the brass on-off switch replaced with a ugly brown/black composite switch. I wanted it changed to look more like the original. I felt like both lamps needed rewiring and a general overhaul to be sure they were safe to use. My husband and I dropped the lamps off one weekend. We discovered that Schnabel's had diffusers in stock and at a better price than the ones I located online, particularly after shipping costs, so took one home with us that day. I got a call the end of the same week that the lamps were ready. When we picked them up everything was in order. The on-off switch was replaced with one that was remarkably similar to the original on the other lamp. The lamps were very sturdy to begin with and now I feel like they are safe to use as well. They have been in use in our living area since we brought them home.- Gayle G.

Richardson Lighting IncI have a pair of small lamps that I use on our baby grand piano and which cannot be replaced. I dropped one and messed up the workings. I looked on Angie's List for a reputable lighting company in San Antonio and chose Richardson Lighting. Took my lamp in on a Monday and was told it would be ready Friday. I received a call that it was ready on Thursday. When I picked it up, they told me it simply needed tightening which they did and insisted on not charging for it. I have two more lamps I will take to them and will highly recommend them to friends. Thank you Richardson lighting.- Shawn K.

SCHNABEL'S HARDWAREI have used Schnables Hareware for years. An old fashioned hardware store in the good sense of the word. It's great to be able to run in and out when you just need one or two things as opposed to Lowes or HD where would spend an hour finding a parking place, find the item, pay and find your car again. Also there prices are very good- I paid half the price that Lowes wanted for a glass window pane and HD doesnt even cut glass anymore. Also you can buy nuts, bolts, screws individually instead of buying a whole box if you just need a few.- John P.
