  Everything went better than expected. Alex called me within hours of requesting a quote on here. Made an appointment for the next day. He was the only contractor that called back without being pushy and was extremely flexible with our time frame. We accepted his bid which was very reasonable on a Friday they started working on Saturday and the job was complete by Wednesday. Here is the scope of the project. 52' by 27' driveway removed and replaced with 52' by 34.5' Rebar Reinforced driveway 27' by 3' walkway removed And replaced with 27' by 4.5' Reinforced concrete 20' by 14' Rebar reinforced concrete Patio connecting walkway and existing patio with 4" riser retaining wall It looks amazing! Alex and his crew were professional and courteous every step of the way. There was great communication Through every phase of the project.A great family company I have already recommended to family and friends and will definitely call the next time I need any type of construction work done. Back patio was simple concrete (about 20x20') but curved. Work was done in less than 2 days. His workers were very efficient and friendly. Highly recommended.   We have now used Alex Construction twice and both times they did excellent work. Alex is easy to get hold of and professional to work with. His prices for our projects were very comparable to other quotes we received but upon meeting with him and discussing possibilities of how-to and what-if's we knew he was the best choice. His suggestions were spot-on and made the final result even better than expected. The crew, both times, were on time and got to work immediately. They never stood around just watching each other work. They worked tirelessly until it was time for their lunch, and then went right back to what they were doing afterwards. The crews have been happy, talking and joking with each other and a joy to have around. If I didn't understand something, there was always someone to easily explain it to me.   Alex, the owner was referred through the nextdoor.com website. I requested referrals and he was one of them recommended. After researching his website and other locations on the Internet he was contacted for an estimate. I was impressed that the owner/operator answered the phone and was quick to respond to provide an estimate. We only had a general idea of what we wanted and knew the grade of the land would provide some challenges. Alex was able to answer every question, provide suggestions as to what they could do and took all the necessary measurements. Within a few minutes he provided a written estimate that was approximately 1/2 of a landscape firm we had talked to previously. We established a tentative start date that had to be moved back because of other construction being done on the property. A fence was being replaced and should have been installed before the drainage and pavement. Alex worked hard to coordinate with the fence company so all work could be completed efficiently and professionally. Before we actually started work we discussed stamped vs stained concrete. His website had some beautiful pictures. Once we looked it all over we increased the project to the flagstone stamp colored to accent our house. We had them take out a small walkway garden and made it as wide as the front porch. Essentially this makes a nice sitting area in the front our house. The week his crews were working on my property was hectic, but orderly. All of the individuals on the crews were very polite and extremely hard workers. The heat was extreme, but the leads made sure breaks were taken and personnel were safe. As the work progressed and questions arose, either one of the crew could answer, or I could call Alex. He was always available. Alex was on property a lot of the time overseeing the work. Despite the extreme heat and issues by the fence company, the projects all went very smoothly. It was amazing to watch everything come together. We have fought mud battles on both sides our house since we moved in 13-years ago. The concrete sidewalks and patio are an awesome addition. The stamped area in front of the house evolved step by step, each one more exciting that the last. When cleaned up and finished, it was better than we could have imagined. Alex and his crew have transformed our home into an area that the neighbors slow to see the work.   Estimate process went well. Job has yet to be started. Update: Took them 3.5 full days of work. I would have liked a little more or better communication and perhaps even a little more salesmanship to give me confidence that everything would be good and be what i wanted. Everything turned out well and it is exactly what i wanted. The craftsmanship is probably an 8.5 out of 10. There are some imperfections in the concrete and in some of the cuts they made and in some of the stampings. It is nice that they aren't EXTREMELY noticeable and but I do find it frustrating that they did so close to perfect, with just a little more effort and attention to detail, it could have literally been perfect. My final complaint is that they did some concrete clean out and disposal in the woods behind my house, which was fine, just they did it in plain site of the patio when they could have easily done it somewhere less noticeable. I cleaned it up in about 30 minutes time, not a big deal, just not the MOST professionalshow more
