Dwight Jacobsen evaluated a crumbling cement footing in our garage. It is an important footing as the main support beam for the master bedroom above the garage rests on it. We had a couple companies quote a repair for us. Jacobsen's quote was much lower than the competition though he was honest that his strategy for the cosmetic portion of the repair might not last as long as a more expensive process. He was able to fix the structural problem, then patch the cosmetic issues adequately. It's only been a few months but it continues to look good. The final cost was almost double the original quote, however this was still by far the cheapest option I looked into. Overall we were satisfied

.. We previous had experience with Dwight Jacobsen (Jacobsen Remodeling, Inc) as he completely remodeled our kitchen a few years back. The result was fantastic. We contacted Dwight again, knowing we would receive the fairest , best quality, and timeliest workmanship available. In June 2011, I drew a preliminary plan for the addition, based on our requirements. We met with Dwight & his selected Designer and discussed the project. A few changes were made for the handicap rooms and by early July we had the building permit and the work began. The excavators came first & dug the space for the foundation & crawkspace. By mid July the concrete foundation & crawlspace were poured & completed. The rough-in carpenters & roofers came next, completing the outside walls, interior rafters, and roof by late July. Insulation was applied on the roof interiors, the inside wall interiors, the foundation inside walls by early August. The plumbing, and heating ducts were roughed-in by early August, as was the electrical wiring & outlets. The dry-walls were installed about the second week of August, then the handicap shower and cabinet installed in the bathroom. Following that, the base cabinet for the laundry was installed. The finish work on the dry-walls was completed the next week.Outside vinyl siding was completed by mid August. Finish carpenters began installing doors, wood molding, sinks and commode by mid August. Plumbing and heating was completed at that time too. The painters began on the walls, doors and molding, doing a great job with the stain, completing everything by mid to late August. The carpet and vinyl flooring was installed in early September. We had the upright freezer, washer & dryer moved from the basement into the laundry room at that time. The township inspectors issued the final approval to occuply, and we moved into the new addition. Dwight Jacobsen managed this project with great skill. He was present during each phase and workday, directing the work and suggesting better ways to accomplish the job being done. All the work crews displayed a great knowledge of trheir craft. The addition was a beautiful success because of them, an d Dwight's supervision. Last, but not least, this project is "Grandma Approved".

Needed repair of my garage after a truck backed into it damaging the brick work and the frame. They were able to quickly do the job, and despite the old brick, they were able to do a fantastic job at matching it as closely as possible. Very friendly and professional, I'll be hiring them again for any future brick work

Excellent! They told me where to get replacements, and once they were ready, they came over promptly, did all the installation work very well (which wasn't easy--those suckers are heavy!), and the price was right!

Ellis Brick and Block

Mr. Ellis owns his own business and it is he who provides the service, so he is invested in the quality of it. I have a wood burning fire place that I use a lot in an old house. The cement around the fire bricks had deteriorated and bricks had actually fallen into the firebox. Mr. Ellis was very knowledgeable, worked diligently and his price was incredibly fair. He is very trustworthy. I was extremely pleased with the work he did. His prices are very reasonable and my firebox is fixed and I can trust having fires in it again. I highly recommend his service

Lloyd Boynton

You can tell Lloyd is an experienced mason, and he showed up within a day to provide an estimate. The crew was able to start the job just a couple days after providing the estimate. The workers did a great job on the repairs and were able to salvage many of the old (but still intact) bricks from the back of the wall which was important to us so that it matched the rest of the wall. The new bricks they needed to use look to be a good match. I feel the cost for all of the repairs was quite reasonable. My only complaint is that they left a bit of a mess. Residue from the concrete was left on our porch, and a spot of grout was left on the window sill which will need to be chiseled off. All in all, I would recommend this business to other home owners and friends, but you may want to check when they are done and possibly remind them to clean everything up

After a delay for the install date because of a mix-up in ordering the windows, we did get the job completed. The work was performed to our satisfaction and we were compensated for the delay. The people at W.M.G.B. Inc. were very friendly and helpful and I would have them again for any future projects

I contacted Dan Spear's after reading the reviews on Angie's List. I was in the process of taking bids. He was the first person I called. I left a message on voicemail and he responded that day. After talking to him I had pretty much made up my mind that he would be who we hired. He made an appointment to come out the following Saturday at 8:30 am. He was there at 8:30 am. Promptness rates high on my list of hiring criteria. He talked to my husband regarding what would be necessary to accomplish our objective, which was to stop the erosion of our yard. Dan said he would send us a quote in about a week. Within the week we had a quote. I felt comfortable not taking any other bids. I didn't know if the bid was high or not but I felt from the start that he is honest, hardworking, and competent. I had some questions on the quote and called Dan, left a message again and he responded within a couple of hours. He answered my questions and I gave him the go ahead to start the job but had some minor changes. He agreed to the changes and another quote was emailed to us. Everything in writing is the way his company works. Dan was very forthcoming from the first contact that he would not be able to do the work for 6-8 weeks out. That worked for us. I received a contract in the mail for signatures and a request for a deposit. About a week before he would be starting our job his wife emailed us to tell us when Dan would be out. On the day the work was started he and his crew arrived at 8:30 am. They worked continuously until the work was completed at about 2:30 pm. He left without payment and sent us an invoice for the balance owing. Since he and his wife were so clear from the very beginning about details we had no questions and sent him a check. We are happy with the work that Dan and his workers did and it looks wonderful

"<p>They were prompt with the estimate and were able to schedule the repairs within our limited timelines. They weren't the lowest bid, but were inline with other bids we received.</p>
<p>The original brick was 30 years old and no longer manufactured. They matched the existing brick as well as they could, offering three different options. </p>
<p>They were neat as they worked and cleaned up nicely.</p>

Raised on a small dairy farm in upstate New York, Dwight Jacobsen the owner and president, has embraced the value of hard work taking care of things for others. He loves to work with his hands and takes great pride in “growing” things. Be it a kitchen, bath, addition, new office space, renovation, doors, windows and a host of other things, Dwight has been solving homeowner and small business remodeling and appearance problems in West Michigan since 1974
"The kitchen floor in the house we recently purchased sagged by nearly an inch in the center. Jacobsen was able to add a beam in the basement to raise it and stabilize it. The supports for the beam were put within the existing walls and the beam was placed on the front edge of a heating duct bulkhead so it did not change the look of the basement. He offered us other options but that was the one we preferred. He was clear about the costs and kept us updated on the process and progress as they worked. His employees did excellent quality work as did the company he hired to complete the drywall.

"I got my living room, 2 bedrooms, stairs, and tile entryway cleaned. I saw a noticeable difference in the carpet and tile both. The carpets look amazing and I was surprised at how clean he was able to get the stairs and the areas we walk on all the time. I thought the pricing was very reasonable for the quality of work. Very professional and thorough. I would definitely use again.

"<p>When we read some reviews on other sites we were a little hesitant to do business with Alpha & Omega but after reading several reviews on Angie's list we decided to go ahead and give them a try. </p>
<p>First of all we called them on the Friday after Thanksgiving and left a message that we wanted them to come out and sweep our chimney. Thought they would follow up on Monday but to our pleasant surprise they called us back that Friday early evening and we set an appointment for the following Tuesday which we thought was great.</p>
<p>They called prior to coming out and were on time with when they told us they would be at our home. They protected the rugs before coming in with their equipment. They were courteous of our home and made sure they kept the dirt outside where it belongs. Their cleaner was actually placed outside and the hose was run over to fireplace.</p>
<p>In addition to doing the sweep the patched some cracks in the back of the fireplace for $20. The sweep was $189. </p>
<p>Was very pleased with the work and our fireplace is burning nice and clean. Will use them again!</p>

"Dan Spears, of Mackinaw Landscaping, came out, measured, listened to what we wanted, and a few days later sent us a proposed landscape plan. When we signed the contract, he said it would be about 2 1/2 to 3 weeks before he could get to it, depending upon weather. I figured that would actually mean 3 1/2 to 4 weeks. It was 2 1/2 weeks. It took about 3 days to do, just as he said. The plantings were attractive, with lots of variety. He was pleasant to be around, and worked steadily.

"I recently contacted WMGB regarding the installation of glass block windows in my basement. We were able to quickly schedule a time for them to give me a quote and Keith from the sales team did an excellent job of walking me through all the options. Approx. 2-3 hours after I received the quote, someone called to schedule the actual installation. Brandon and Devin from the installation team arrived promptly on the scheduled date and did an excellent job of removing the existing windows and installing the new glass block windows. Overall, I had a great experience with WMGB!
