- Choice Home WarrantySteer clear. Choice home warranty is NOT a BBB business and is classified as "C" by the BBB-- FOR A REASON. I just completed my first claim for a microwave with a broken control panel. I had to pay a technician $65 to assess the problem. He was unprofessional-did not have a business card or receipt for services, pants below his underwear. The determination was the microwave needed to be replaced. I was offered $191 for the same microwave that retails for $449 at Lowe's and Best Buy. Payment was to be in the form of a Lowe's e-gift card, even though I have coverage at Best Buy that includes installation. So, I would pay $453 for the microwave (with tax) + 129 installation + 65 service fee, bringing the grand total to $647. That's an underpayment of $456. How is that at all appropriate for a microwave that just went out of warranty less than a year ago? Also, I opted for a cash payment which will take 30 days. Choice is a giant waste of money. - America's 1st Choice Home WarrantyI have had to make 2 claims this year. I am up for renewal this month. My first call was a garage door issue. They were out that afternoon or the next day. I paid my co=pay and they were on their way. Super nice person. My second claim was recently. I decided at the last minute when I took the warranty out to add my pool coverage. Am I glad I did. My motor and pump went out. They covered up to $500. My final cost was under $80. They allowed me to use the service of my choice (which is who I use to keep my pool maintained), pay for the service and send in request for reimbursement. I have recommended America's 1st Choice to friends and realtors. A very hassle free and stress free service. Easy to work with. Great to know there is a local office if I ever have an issue where I need a face to face. HIGHLY RECOMMEND AMERICA'S 1ST CHOICE!!
- High Tech Home WarrantiesOur heat went out and we promptly called Atlanta Gas Light who said there was a problem with the furnace. We then called High Tech Home Warranty. 1. They sent a contractor the next day to inspect the problem. Determined that a complete replacement was needed. The contractor was 90 minutes late (did not call me) but I am not pinning that blame on High Tech. 2. The day after that, contractors came back to replace the furnace. They were courteous (though I was a not a huge fan of them smoking on my lawn). However, they did not tell me when they would be coming to my house so I received a called from High Tech after I had gone to work saying the contractors were there. 3. Finished the job in the afternoon and were courteous to my wife as they tested the system. 4. We have heat in our house again! Keith is always available to talk to on the phone but I wish the contractors would show up on time and notify me ahead of time when coming. The total cost of the replacement was $2625 and the platinum warranty covers $1500 so our out-of-pocket was $1125. Not bad for a replacement. Would highly recommend (not that we hope to have to :-)
- The Home Service ClubThey change their billing process which I am not too happy about but I had to just see how it works out. I put on a monthly basis. I sent them a payment every month but once they do is when the guy comes out I pay him and then they take it off of what I owe them on a yearly basis so I don’t know about that but when the guy came out he did a good job of course I ended up paying for it. I’m not sure and If I have time I am going to look at the bill and see if they are doing it correctly and if not I want to get rid of them and find and I will be calling you guys to find someone else. The guy that came did an excellent job. Their price is a little high
- America’s Preferred Home Warranty IncOutstanding warranty companies. I usually leave reviews for my wife to do but the experience was very smooth and easy that I felt compelled to do it myself! Our cooling coil in our A/C had a leak and we needed Freon. I was nervous to call APHW because of several negative reviews. Although, we needed the A/C fixed and I wasn't going to pay $1,400 for it if we had a warranty so I prepared for a fight, but the result was the exact opposite! I followed the 3 steps on the brochure we received when we purchased the home. I called APHW to explain the situation, the rep to me to go ahead and call a service tech to look at the unit and confirm. Then I called APHW back and they approved! It was just that easy! It has been 6 days now since the work was completed and I just received confirmation that our reimbursement check is on the way! EXTREMELY satisfied that we have this company and will definitely be extending the warranty

It can be somewhat of a hassle to get the work done, but it saves so much money is more than worth it! Occasionally we haven't been happy with the companies they have sent but they are willing to send someone else. Their policy is that if something can't be fixed, they will replace it with something of equal value. We are getting ready to move to the Atlanta, GA area an will be keeping them. We've found that when we first signed up with the real estate agent the rates were lower than when we renewed, but they still saved us a lot of money so it was very worth it

"They do not replace for like kind. They put the cheapest brand name in regardless of the brand or model number being replaced. This was not explained to me at the time of purchase. When I called and inquired they just said Sorry there is nothing we can do. They charge you 49.99 per month plus a service fee of 55.00 at the time of service. This was not told to me at the time of purchase. Although I had a disagreement with the Company most Home warranty Companies don't even cover the garbage disposal. So all in all I guess this company isn't as bad as I thought. My cost is in line with the other Companies. The biggest issue for these home warranty Companies is hiring a quality Company to do the work to be Contracted.

"<p>My inspector was Ron Cress. 10 years ago when I bought my first house he was my home inspector (when he was with Land America) and I was so impressed with his knowledge, his thoroughness, and his professionalism that when I was buying a new house I hunted him down on the internet and found him working for Buyers Protection Group. With my first house he saved me a lot of headache by finding over 160 items the builder of house did wrong, including 8 major building code violations. Without Ron's inspection I would have had an uneven roof, and bannisters that weren't safe for my kids. I owe him a lot, so I hired him a second time. He did not disappoint. Since this house was an existing house his focus was no longer on code, but safety and just general defects. He found cases of wood rot, plumbing issues, electrical issues where the GFI outlets weren't working correctly, and improper drainage on the roof. At the same time he was very re-assuring that the house was a very good house, and if these were our only problems then we were in great shape.</p>
