"Great! Juan was quick to respond and came right out as soon as the snow melted. He gave me a quote and started the job moments later. He was very polite and they did a fantastic job getting all the fall leaves picked up, especially since they were matted to the ground after months of seasonal changes. His price was very reasonable and I appreciate him coming out!"

"Victor and his team worked together like a well-oiled machine. I needed some soil to level in my side yard and seeding. In the backyard I had a large overgrown oval area of tall grass, weeds and ground cover. They cleared it, added soil and raked it smooth. They trimmed 2 overgrown evergreen bushes & a hydrangea bush. They cleared two areas under a tree and bush of ground cover I do not want. They dug out 3 burning bushes 30 years old. They cleared out 2 dead bushes in the corner. The yard was left clean and nice looking. This was done in a light rain but they worked like troopers!"

"Miguelâ s workers are super hard workers. They worked until the job was completed. Everything I asked them to do was done. They were quiet, neat in their work, and cleaned up when finished. I will have them again next yearâ - or maybe before."

Customers say: Quick response

"Inside Out has maintained my lawn for multiple years with exceptional care. Since they started, my lawn has never looked so good! The crew has taken on a number of other landscaping projects, and what ever they have taken on, the results have always exceeded my expectations.. I’ve referred them to friends, and my friends needs were also well taken care of. The business owner is likable, knowledable, and cares about his customers. I highly recommend InsideOut!"

Small jobs welcome

"Am having a number of services performed by this company, but I'm pleased with the work so far (they installed topsoil and slit-seeded 1/2 of backyard.) Crew was quick and courteous, and addressed a problem we found very quickly."

"Had Ryan and his crew take down 2 fully mature Maple trees and multiple large bushes for a very reasonable price. Did a great job doing everything that was asked. Only reason for a less than perfect rating is it took longer than expected. I would definitely use them again and I would recommend them for someone else's project."

"These guys are great! Couldnâ t be happier with their work. I had them come out to do a late fall yard clean up including leaf removal, final mow, and edging. It made such a difference. They were very easy to work with. Highly recommend!"

Soil Delivery FAQs

Topsoil costs from $12 to $55 per cubic yard, depending on the type you choose. For example, screened black dirt will cost about $15 per cubic yard. Loam (soil composed of sand, silt, and clay) costs about $17 per cubic yard. Standard screened topsoil costs about $20 per cubic yard. The type of topsoil you need depends on your landscaping plans.

Mulch costs anywhere from $30 to $150 per cubic yard, depending on the type you choose. On the inexpensive end, red and black mulch are about $35 to $40 per cubic yard, and are typically made from recycled waste wood like shredded old pallets or deck material. Cedar, cypress, and rubber mulch cost anywhere from $100 to $120 per cubic yard. A pro can help you determine the type of mulch most suitable for your landscaping needs.

Topsoil should go down first. If the topsoil is next to your house, make sure the grade slopes away from the house to keep water from pooling against your foundation and possibly leaking into your basement or crawl space. Don’t cover your decorative landscape mulch with topsoil as that defeats the purpose of laying down the mulch. If you’re trying to create a certain soil composition to improve plant growth, you’ll likely want compost mixed into the topsoil instead of mulch. Over time, any decorative wood mulch will simply decompose under the topsoil.

No, mulch itself does not necessarily attract termites even though it’s usually made of shredded wood. Some types of mulch like cedar or cypress resist termites because they’re toxic or unappetizing to the wood munchers. However, when the mulch is deep enough, say three inches or more, it creates a perfect habitat for insects of all kinds to build nests.

Although it’s not required to lay anything under mulch, it can help to put landscape fabric or plastic weed barrier down and lay mulch on top. The barrier helps keep weeds from growing up through your mulch. It also helps keep rodents and insects from burrowing into the ground underneath.
