We hired Anthony and Sylvan to build a new pool for us. We met with the design consultant, he gave us a great price, and we signed up. We got some issues with the local zoning board that Anthony and Sylvan resolved. Once those issues were resolved, installation went smoothly and no issues were encountered.

Anthony & Sylvan is an exceptional company. The Project Manager was involved daily and very hands on. Most impressive, they were timely at every stage of the project and responsively addressed questions. The New Pools Scheduler was beyond professional and courteous and he truly helped to ensure everything remained on target. This outstanding service stemmed from the very top -- we cannot speak highly enough about the General Manager -- his ability to mitigate obstacles and make the experience free of worry not only reflected his utmost concern for customer satisfaction, but was genuine and a rare quality in today's busy world. Anthony & Sylvan, with the excellent efforts of these individuals, deserves an A+ in all parameters. I would highly refer them to anyone.

The project was to install a new pool from scratch. We started in Oct with the design of the pool. Overall the design process went well. The excavation took place in December and the concrete for the walls went in in Jan. From here, the schedule completely fell apart. Despite the amount of money you will pay for the pool, you as the customer will be expected to perform a lot of the oversight of the sub contractors and you are on the hook to clean up after them. March turned into April. By late April, we had figured out that our project manager had left the pool company. Our project made slow progress but by mid May the pool pump equipment was installed. By early June the pool deck was poured and the water was put in by the end of June. Despite having a new project manager, you will not see the PM on days when big events are happening, you will be on your own to make sure the project is put in correctly and that the sub contractors clean up after themselves. It is now late August and the pool has failed county inspection three times for various different issues. Do you expect hiccups along the way on a big project like a pool - Yes and we had quite a few. After all was said and done, A&S corporate headquarters stepped in and is doing what they can to ensure the project gets finished in the manner it should of be. Will you get a pool installed - Yes. Will you have to do a lot of supervision - Yes. However, for the amount of money that you will spend and how long you will look at the final product, I find it difficult to recommend using this company.

Terrific job! The crews on site were all extremely helpful and super hard working. I was assigned a project manager who was with me from the beginning talking to me about the plan and timeline always answering calls and still helped answer questions for me after the job was all done. My new pool deck looks amazing and the pool is like a brand new pool.

A&S was great on all levels. The work was done in a timely and professional manner. The only delays were weather related, but A&S quickly rescheduled. The sales and service staff were great before, during , and after the install. Small issues arose (like any large project) but the A&S staff immediately corrected the issues. After completion, I utilized the pool service staff for a few service issues (covered under warranty) and the service was handled very quickly, resolving my small issues. More importantly no cost to me. I visited the Chantilly, Va, store on a regular basis for free water testing and all around pool care questions regarding the pool maintenance. The store was an Invaluable resource for a 1st time pool owner. Also, used them to open and close the pool for the summer and winter season. I would totaly recommend A&S for pool constrution, retail store, and service calls. Great company with outstanding service.

Anthony & Sylvan installed the pool behind our home 30 years ago, so when it came time to renovate it, we went back to them for the work. The project was a complete overhaul of the pool and surrounding deck and involved many moving parts. The Anthony & Sylvan team was always in regular contact with us, accessible by email, telephone, and even text message. On the rare occasion when a subcontractor appeared on site without necessary information, it took no time at all to contact a responsible party at Anthony & Sylvan to get everyone back on track again. The project was largely on time, barring some weather delays and some other delays to which we equally contributed. But, most importantly, the project was on budget! Throughout the project, Anthony & Sylvan went to great lengths to make things right and to live up to the company’s stellar reputation. Following the project’s completion, we were able to get someone from Anthony & Sylvan to come out and correct a few things to make sure we were 100% happy with our pool’s performance. We also decided to have Anthony & Sylvan provide our weekly pool maintenance the following summer and install our brand-new pool heater. In short, this is an ethical, reliable, and professional company that stands by its work and its reputation. I am particularly moved to write this note having recently experienced another service provider’s comparative lack of professionalism. And it reminded me how much the folks at Anthony & Sylvan were willing to work with us to preserve the investment in our home. As a result, I will gladly refer my friends, relatives, and colleagues to Anthony & Sylvan.

Anthony & Sylvan Pools

I chose A&S over other bidders for this project because their very kndgeable expert Hart Berkowitz had all the answers allowing me to make the right choices for this project, and offered a very competitive price. As planned, most work was done in the late fall, and the final finish was applied just before we filled the pool for the 2020 summer season. The last punch-list items were completed on time -- but just, a few hours before our grandchildren arrived for the Memorial Day holiday. The process could have been smoother, however. All major work -- demolition and sandblasting, installation of new coping and tile, and the final application of a plaster finish to the interior -- was done by subcontractors without an A&S representative present. Communicating in English with these subs was difficult to impossible. The tiling sub also carelessly left much excess mortar to harden in lumps, interfering with the installation of new decking. My deck contractor charged me $500 extra for the hours it took to clean up the mess, which would have taken the subcontractor only a few minutes to clean up had he done it when the mortar was still wet. I also was often left in the dark about when work was going to be scheduled. Calls and messages to the A&S scheduler wouldn't be returned for days. A simple "I'll know more in a few days" would have been better than silence. I also wish I had been fully aware of how messy it is to sandblast the old finish off the pool interior. The sandblasting contractor took pains to clean up the worst of the grit from the adjacent deck area, but fine dust and grit also landed on porch furniture 15 feet away and inside a screen porch. I was hosing and cleaning for hours, which I could have avoided if I had covered all my outdoor stuff with disposable plastic sheeting. In the end, it was all worth the effort. We get many compliments on the pool, which is lovely and now looks ready for another 30 years.

Green Future Construction
5.0
I GC'd my own pool renovation which required a fair amount of coordination between 3 different contractors, Green Future being one of them. Green Future was contracted to replace a 20 year old cracked concrete pool deck (approx. 1,300 sq ft) with pavers. This was a difficult job, the existing concrete was in a difficult to reach area and removal of the concrete was hard. I'm a bit of a type A person, and Green Future was willing to work with my schedule, around the quirks of the other contractors, and whenever I contacted them both Joey and Thomas were there to take care of things as needed. I believe without their skill, professionalism, and willingness to go the extra mile, this project would have been a disaster due to the other two contractors. They've worked with pools before, so they knew how to the job right. And they way the did the hidden drains on the pavers was a work of art, and they drains were done properly with dry wells to absorb the runoff. And you can imagine at the end of the project things would be a mess. They cleaned it up so that you almost can't tell anything happened. By spring the mess will be forgotten By the way, the deck is BEAUTIFUL! Hiring these guys was the single best decision I made for this project. Thanks very much. I would pretty much hire them for any yard project.

Anthony & Sylvan Pools

Their work has always been "top-notch." Over the last 25 years, they replaced the tile twice, repaired the coping stones when needed, and last summer installed all new modern coping stones. This spring they are scheduled to re-plaster the pool for the second time in 25 years. They also assist with deck renovation by applying the mastic between the coping and surrounding pool deck. We are always pleased with results of their work. They provide the cost of the work upfront and always stick to the agreed price. Scheduling is tricky as it depends on the weather but once they begin the work, they stick with it until it is done without much downtime for use of the pool.

They were great! Both Rick and Mary were patient and understanding. I asked a lot of questions and changed my mind a few times and still they were willing to make the changes and answer all my questions. I also asked for a lot of quotes during the job also still Rick was willing and very prompt and getting back to me with a price. Got a little worried at a couple of points during the job but always put my mind at ease. The work turned out beautiful and I have gotten a lot of compliments on my pool and deck.

Recent Review: The installer was on time and introduced himself before starting the job. The product is of great quality and the installer worked straight thru a downpour of rain which I would not expect of anyone, so kudos to him ! Very meticulous and love the work. Great Job and will use again for a much larger job over a pool next year. Highly recommend !

Recent Review: UPDATE: It's now spring of 2015 - work had to stop for the winter, but we got the concrete deck poured, the deck was stained and control joints cut. It looks amazing! Had a late start this spring due to the weather -- given the layout and the hilliness, we couldn't bring heavy equipment down the hill during rain, which there was quite a bit of, along with the cold. But once Bright started back up, things have moved very effectively and efficiently. These crews know exactly what they're doing. The foreman is extremely knowledgeable and they've been able to answer all of my questions. They've listened to my input in how I wanted things laid out, and they don't need any supervision once they know how I want things. They installed a retaining wall in front of the kitchen which is absolutely fabulous. It curves around rather than being angular, which I didn't think they could do. They helped me put in a PVC water pipe prior to pouring the footing so I could get water access to the wood deck just outside of the kitchen. The stairs down to the pool area are amazing - at least 10 feet wide at the top and 36 feet wide at the bottom. They look like stairs to a Mayan temple. They just finished putting in the paver pathway. I watched the work and they put down a very thick layer of stone and concrete dust, compacted it extremely well, then when it was ready, laid out the pavers. When they were in place, they put long bars of rebar along the edge, hammered in vertical rebar to hold the horizontal rebar in place, and then place concrete all around the edges covering the rebar, and ensuring the pavers would not move, even the pavers at the edges. The concrete edging is lower than the pavers for grass to cover, so it's not going to show, but it will do the job beautifully. The work is almost finished, and I'll put in a final update when we're done. If you have concrete and masonry work to do and you don't call Bright Construction Group (703-533-7422) then, frankly, I think you're wasting your time and money. PRIOR REVIEWS and UPDATES: Bright Construction is one of those companies that I consider in the top 5%. They started this project and move quickly, first meeting with me and going over the boundaries, what I wanted and so on. They dug huge holes for concrete piers, put in the wall beyond the pool on top of the piers, and then poured concrete to fill it all. They then backfilled that area, put in the wall with unbelievable footers between the pool and the house, took out the old deck, put in concrete steps that look like they lead to a Mayan temple (not kidding - wish I could post a picture) which they're putting facing stone and cap stone on this week. They've backfilled the whole pool area with fill from another job they're working on, and it's changed the way we view the pool area. It is absolutely amazing what these folks can do. They move quickly, and know exactly what they're doing. They are flexible -- I've changed the size of the concrete deck, extended the wall between the pool and the house, and have asked them to add these and other changes to the contract and bill. The CEO has been out a couple of times to see how things are going; the foreman is an expert in concrete and how to make things work. My realtor said recently that if I'm looking for a concrete construction, the Portuguese are the best. It turns out the CEO and the foreman are both Portuguese. After the first two days, the pool area was cleared, leveled, and concrete piers and footers across them were poured. Two concrete trucks, one concrete pump truck, and a couple of mid-sized kubota-like vehicles. This is a more difficult location to access, down a hill in the back yard. I'm very impressed. They know what they're doing, and it's clear that they have a lot of experience with this kind of work. This whole area had a lot of fill dirt laid down before the houses were built more than 45 years ago, so they had to dig the holes for the concrete piers (which are about 5-6 feet in diameter, I think) down to the soil below the fill dirt. They staggered the piers on one side of the pool area and tied them all together with rebar before they poured, so that the piers closest to the pool are tied in to the ones further from the pool, which prevents any movement and strengthens each individual pier. The concrete deck will be poured on top of the compacted fill dirt and the concrete piers -- it's 4000 psi concrete -- other quotes I had gotten from others were for 3500 psi concrete. Bright has been extremely flexible with the changes I've requested -- you don't really know some things in advance -- you have to wait until you see one part done before you realize you want to do the next part differently than originally envisioned. I'll update this review when the deck is poured and we're almost done with the work. At this point, if you want concrete work done, walls built, concrete stairs poured, stone work done, or any of the other things that they've done here in this pool renovation, you'd be wise to call Bright. I was really concerned about spending this much money and ending up with poor quality materials and work -- that is absolutely not the case here. They are doing excellent work, doing it very competently, and using very high quality materials. So happy, I've been going to their office to submit deposits every few weeks, without any prodding. Would I call them again for a significant job? Yes. Your money will be well spent.
