MJM Deck Restorations And Pressure Washing
Our deck was showing its age, but we weren't ready to fully replace it. Mike did a great job refinishing it. He also replaced a badly warped top rail on all three sides of the deck, as well as the old lattice surround that had largely rotted and fallen away. Very fair and honest - we would definitely hire again.

Highly recommend Montgomery Decks. I wanted something very specific and Tudor worked with me to make sure the design was what I wanted. The team worked to ensure the construction was high quality and they really paid attention to detail. I am super happy with the outcome and definitely recommend this company to my family and friends

Deck Armor LLC
We had our deck and pergola re-finished (estimated deck size 360 sq feet). We chose the mid-option called "Semi-transparent". The deck looks great. They did a nice job on the pressure washing and the coating. Everything around the deck was covered so nothing was accidentally stained. They finished within their estimated window. We're very happy with the deck. It looks so much better.

Deck Armor LLC
I dealt with Jim; he was super responsive in email, and did everything that we discussed. It never took me more than 48 hours to get a response from him. The only delays we had were weather-related. Once we had enough consecutive dry days, the Deck Armor team took care of it quickly and professionally. I'd definitely recommend them to anybody for work.

Deck Armor LLC
Jim at Deck Armor LLC did a great job repairing our very old and neglected deck. We thought we would have to tear it down and build a new one, dreading the expense of that, but he inspected it carefully and determined that it was still structurally sound. He pressure-washed the whole deck and replaced all the boards that needed to be replaced, adding support where necessary, and sanded and stained & sealed the deck. It looks fantastic, you wouldn't know how bad it looked before! Doing that saved us a ton of money! We had another estimate that was cheaper than his, but it was clear to us that he was very knowledgeable and experienced and we knew that was really important. We are so glad we did! Jim was very helpful and responsive throughout the project and was a real pleasure to work with!

Deck Armor LLC
Great work by the Deck Armor team. They're estimate was the most competitive and they delivered great quality and value. They are pretty booked up, so expect to wait a few weeks. They did a great job on the main task (refinish and stain) along with going above and beyond on some other aspects (replacing boards, adding a railing, etc.).

Deckscapes of Virginia LLC
They said that they don't do that kind of job and they recommended someone to do the work and we are using them now. So far we are satisfied with the guy they recommended. They said that they would be too expensive and recommended a smaller company. I liked what they provided. We would definitely use them in the future.

Deckshield International, Inc.
Deckshield has been refinishing our deck for many years and when it was time to replace it (after 27 years), we called Deckshield because of their past performance. Wilson gave us a very fair quote and we are glad we hired him to do the job. He worked very hard, did excellent work and completed the project ahead of schedule. He is friendly, honest and obviously takes pride in doing the job right. We would highly recommend Deckshield whether you just need to have your deck power-washed and refinished or rebuilt.

Atlantic Deck & Home Renovation Inc
Everything went seemlessly. After being contacted, Atlantic came out and provided a quote within 7 days, and recommended what stain/sealer to use. Within two weeks Atlantic had scheduled the work. Everything was done completely to our satisfaction.

R&L Pressure Washing
Mr Ortiz came on the first day and power washed a deck, a gazebo and our home. Shortly thereafter, his team of professionals refinished the deck and gazebo. The work was promptly and excellently done. His workers cleaned up after the job was completed. At all stages of the project he was accessible and within hours responded to all of my questions. Mr. Ortiz anticipated the weather and adjusted the work schedule so as not to not have the work messed up by the rain. Overall, I recommend M & L very highly.

The estimate was quick, the work began quickly and was finished quickly. The end result looked even better than expected.

Benchmark Painting & Carpentry of Kensington, LLC
We were extremely pleased with Benchmark. Beginning with Terry, who came to give the estimate and discuss the work which needed to be done, and ending with the carpenters who completed the project, we had absolutely no complaints. They were responsive, professional, and clearly extremely competent. We appreciated that we were presented with options and that price was clearly considered. We have absolutely no complaints.

Something Different Contracting
I should have known from the start that this was going to go wrong when I paid the deposit and the agreement was the work would start in 2 weeks and the work didn't start for 4 1/2 weeks. What is worse is that in order to get any response after I had paid the $10,000 deposit, I had to call the roofing company that they contract with in order to get any response from Something Different. They said they were sorry but they had more work than they could handle at that point and they were going to be delayed. That should have been a major warning sign but I had already committed to the work. David, the owner of the company, came out for the initial walk-thru. I don't live in the property so I was worried about tenant noise and inconveniencing the other neighbors which he assured me was not going to be problem. I also asked that I get a pretty regular progress report as I couldn't be there all the time and he responded with, and quot;please don't micro-managing us we know what we are doing.and quot; I was far from trying to micro-manage rather just stay informed since it was a large job. As work progressed, slowly, on the project I received a call from the apartment below mine. He informed me that on a 90 degree day his air conditioning wasn't working. Turns out that David's team had removed all the HVAC units and hadn't told me or any of the other residents. For two days in the heat all the residents of the building had no air conditioning without warning. When I called David to express that I was surprised and that the residents were annoyed he yelled at me! He told me I was being unreasonable and was incredibly rude to me. In his defense he did call me a day later to apologize for yelling at me but as the customer he should have never yelled in the first place. Another week went by and I received another call from another resident and it turned out all her patio furniture and window boxes and screens had been broken. When I called David to find out what had happened he said that it was a bunch of drunk people that did it, which I would have believed except my neighbors saw his construction guys lower debris onto her patio and saw the breaking of the patio furniture. When I had them send me a detailed email with the account of the actions, only then did David take responsibility. Finally, after 3 weeks of additional work time, it was time to settle the bill. At the start of the contract we had agreed that everything would be paid by credit card. All the deposits and mid-payment were handled by credit card but when it came time for the final bill they wanted me to pay the credit card processing charge. I couldn't believe after $45,000 worth of work they were haggling over the credit card fee. When they finally agreed to pay the fees they sent me a and quot;revisedand quot; invoice which magically included an extra $3K of work that had not been there before. What's more is that I also asked them me to send me an itemized invoice showing the charge for each piece of work, because I wanted to know and I need this for condo records and they kept telling me that they would do this but I had to pay them first. Given all these charges that kept appearing on the bill, I would have been stupid to pay them first. As for the work itself, most of it seems to have been done correctly, except that when I came to do the final walk-thru the seams hadn't been sealed correctly. After almost 2 months of work I would have expected them to show me a finished product but eventually the seams were correctly sealed. Update: After almost a month of trying to settle the bill, when I asked about why a steel beam costs $7,000. David threatened that if I didn't pay him immediately that he would take legal action. He sent me a letter from his lawyers to pay him and that I would have to pay legal fees along with the roofing charges. All this for trying to gain clarity on my bill.

Before & After Home Improvement Co
No contract quote came close to Rick's after meeting with several different contractors. More impressive is the quality of the work and his crew. On time, every time, every morning until the jobs was complete. When the county code became an issue, he quickly came up with a plan that would ensure the inspections met the parameters of the job and were acceptable to me. I seriously began to lose faith in the general contractor workforce for this area until Rick showed up. I can't say enough about the the effort, courtesy and expertise of Rick and his crew. We already have him lined for future jobs.

I go back and forth between Florida and Virginia, and they've been very understanding about that, when I have to leave. They left some of their stuff here. He's a wonderful guy to work with. He told me he was sending his A Crew and he really did. He sent two guys that were so professional. He's really the best. He's come out here himself just to see how things were doing. They work very, very hard. They're always on time. Mike is wonderful. He always emails me or checks. I feel real comfortable about the two workers that come out. They're really respectful. I like that Mike goes to Home Depot and uses his discount to get me things. I used to have a different company do the deck and I thought they did a good job, but when Anderson did it, I couldn't believe just how pristine it looked. He put some water on there, to show me, and you can see the water just kind of bouncing off of there, because the finish was so good. He left his tools in the garage and some of his stuff on the deck, for when I can come back into town and he can finish the job. He's just a wonderful guy, besides that. I can't say how nice he is. He's very responsive and professional. He's a great guy. I had another company out here to do some work, and he redid his work schedule to accommodate them. That's how nice he is. I'm retired and on a budget, so he's very conscious of that, too.

Deck Armor LLC
Excellent service! I contacted Deck Armor in May, and Jim was very open about his scheduling limitations due to seasonal demands and rain. He then managed to get my initial cleaning done on time, and even brought in a crew on short notice to finish the project on a holiday weekend. Everything was done very well, and I have already had compliments about how nice the refinished deck looks. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

All American Painting Plus Inc
Guys arrived right on time and worked diligently throughout the week they worked with us. They were very neat - not a paint drop to be found anywhere! The prep work was meticulous and much appreciated. The hardest part of the job was refinishing the porch floring (Brazilian Walnut) and Rene (lead) handled it with care and precision - it looks brand new again!
