Joseph estimated the job would take two weeks; it actually took 7 days. Joseph and wife, Janina are extraordinary professionals in this business. In addition to their very high work ethic and skill standards, they are a lovely couple. Our new bathroom is beautiful. I would highly recommend them. I wish I had found them earlier!

Giovanni Gomez' crew from WillisBuilders showed up on time and performed the work according to agreement. Giovanni went with me to Home Depot to select shower door and ceiling tiles. He rented a truck to transport the materials as our cars were not big enough to transport everything in one trip. I liked his initiative in suggesting this especially since it saved me a couple of extra trips and the cost was under $35. The reason I did not rate everything "A" was because in the beginning my calls to Willis Builders were not returned promptly .

I was impressed with Mario and MRDC from the time he first came over to discuss the remodeling of my basement and the replacement of my porch lights all the way through the completion of the project. The quality of the work is excellent and his team finished on time. I could not ask for more. Mario made sure I understood all the work that was to be performed and addressed any questions I had. Mario was understanding when we had to delay the start of the project at the last minute and worked around my schedule for a new start date. During the project, a couple of things did not go as planned and Mario made adjustments that would have been invisible to me had I not been 'Hands-On'. I would highly recommend Mario and MRDC Solutions for your home project and remodeling needs.

The entire job took four days, including Saturday and Sunday. I wasn't expecting the weekend work but that's fine. They were extremely professional and did a great job. The new shower looks great, and I would definitely use them for future projects.

Too good to be true! Old world craftsmanship at reasonable prices. Attention to detail at every step of the project. They have done 3 project for us: kitchen backsplash, total master bath redo and guest bath. Joseph over engineers everything possible. If something requires one nail or screw, if possible, I will put in two, Joseph will put in three. His subfloors are like tanks. They have screws and glue and are built to last and support the tile floor that neither of us want to crack. Best plumbing work I've ever seen. And when it comes to tile, Joseph is an artist with, as I said, old world craftsmanship. Three of our friends, that I know of, have used them. One has had them back for 3 different projects, another for one project so far and a third has them working on a third project as I write this (10/16/14). A neighbor used them for every bathroom in their house, the kitchen and the foyer and basement floors. If you don't go see some of their work and get an estimate from them, you are doing yourself a disservice. We will use only them when it comes kitchens, baths and tile work. A+ rating on everything.

DMV Kitchen & Bath Inc

We contacted DMV in September to provide us with an estimate and design idea for remodeling our kitchen. They responded with the lowest estimate and a great design. They began work in November (on a date requested by us), and completed about a month later. The workers were respectful of our space and time, and secured the kitchen as best they could to prevent dust from getting into the other areas of the home. Javier is very knowledgeable of all things kitchen, and promptly had a solution to any minor issue we had along the way. Oscar was also very nice to work with and responded quickly to any of our questions and concerns. To top it off, they were able to get us a great discount on an appliance package, much lower than we would have been able to get on our own (cost of the appliances is not included in the $20k approximation of how much we spent). We love our new kitchen, but what I like most about working with DMV is knowing that they will be quick to respond to any problems we might come across in the future. Whether it was a day after they finished, or months from now I know they will be happy to fix or resolveany issue that might crop up. That is very comforting. We are so happy with our kitchen that we are now thinking of what other renovation we could have done by DMV.

It went great. The worksmanship is amazing. Great quality. The tiled walls are all plumb and completely waterproofed. The team was mostly on time but always stayed to complete the task of the day. This has to be the best contracting company I’ve ever worked with.

This is the second time that I have used John and Walter, but it certainly won't be the last! Once again, on time, on budget, and very professional! These guys seem to be able to handle anything in the home. This is a rental property and numerous items needed attention. As I am an out of town owner, John sent before and after photos of all work performed, and ensured I was satisfied beofre we discussed the bill. Great job!

Basement Systems USA
5.0
In children’s books, the story always ends, “happily ever after.” Home projects do not always end that way. I contacted several companies associated with “solving problems with wet basements” and was confronted with the problem that each company focused only on one of the problems, but my project involved not just substantial water seepage under the front wall of a 43 year old home, accumulated mold, installation of drainage at the down spout, replacement of the moldy and worn carpeting, and replacement of original ceiling tiles in the associated rooms (utility, study). Basement Systems offered services that included all, each service was clearly documented in the contract, and each was explained noting a range of prices. There was no pressure to sign the contract so I had time to consider not only which company to choose but also which available service best met my immediate and long term needs. I hired Basement Systems and was placed on the work schedule. A week before work was scheduled, I received a complete schedule and what my role was in preparation. When I had questions, Mr. Dave Ryan, project manager immediately clarified. The work crew arrived as scheduled, removed from the immediate work area furniture, books, etc, covered all with plastic, covered the floors upstairs with plastic and initiated the project. I was onsite only the first day but had no anxiety leaving the crew. They were carefully supervised by the foreman. A bin for the construction debris was so helpful as I began discarding items from the attic as well as the shed in the backyard. I officially began downsizing. The work was scheduled for one week but completed in four days. I was quite surprised when I arrived home on the fourth day and saw all the furniture replaced and the rooms swept clean. This not yet the ending of this story. While discussing the project with the estimator, he suggested hooking up my dehumidifier to the installed sump pump system. It was definitely not in the contract I signed but an important service given my current physical limitations. A few days after completion of the project when I answered an email and survey as to my satisfaction with the work completed, I mentioned this service. Without hesitation, Mr. Ryan agreed to hook up my dehumidifier noting accurately had it been in the original contract, it would have been done. I believe I have my “happily ever after” ending. If things need fixing or altering, I know I can depend on Basement Systems to make it right. In my experience, this is an exceptional company with employees dedicated to providing service.

The WOW factors were: Design Recommendations; Personal shopping assistance; Ability to address limiting factors with ease, expanding the space. The finished tile bath is both beautiful and functional, all at reasonable cost. Roger and his crew were highly professional, punctual and experienced, always there when they were scheduled. We were comfortable leaving them in our home unsupervised. We could not be happier with our new bathroom. The tile work including the decorative border and niche is just perfect. The expanded shelves are likewise great. We're also happy we decided to wait for Roger to begin construction, as it was well worth the wait.

Excellent. Pre work meeting went very well. Chris explained everything to me well. Asking questions, answering questions and providing suggestions. Punctual. Work was done in a timely manner. Although i had scheduling issues, he worked with me timeline. Final cost was just above initial estimate. But this was due to changes that I wanted.

Nova Renovation Group

After NRG did a perfect job (yes, perfect, which may be the shortest and most accurate review on Angie's List) installing hardwood floors throughout our first floor and replacing major kitchen appliances, there was no doubt that we would call on David Gordon again when we wanted to renovate our master bath. He did not disappoint. Once we described our preferences and our budget, he and his wife Michelle worked their magic. It was like having friends help you through the renovation process with one critical difference: David and Michelle know what they're doing. They found floor and shower tiles that not only met our needs but, thankfully, nudged us beyond what we would have settled for. They advised against a paint color we had chosen and, thankfully, the lighter shade was just right. They took care of all the details and dealt with the shipping delays, etc. so all we had to do was enjoy our new bathroom. They took it from a tired '70s tub and dated vanity to a spacious, glass-enclosed shower and stylish vanity. We realized once we read some articles and saw a bathroom showcase that we had set quite a modest budget, but David never indicated we had placed constraints on him. He simply found ways to meet both our wishes and our budget. For example, rather than buy a new medicine cabinet, he stripped, reshaped, and stained our old one to match the new vanity. I unhesitatingly recommend NRG for any renovation work.

Mike delivered a detailed proposal for all the work we requested. His proposal while not the lowest in price was the best value compared to other proposals received from other contractors. He began the work on time, completed all work on schedule and did not exceed the contracted price. The workmenship was first rate. He was always wiling to considerd suggestions we made to the work as it progressed. Mike is great to work with. We would highly recommened him to all our friends and relatives.

BUYER BEWARE. We hired Woodbutchers LLC in March2017. I fired them in July 2017 after being chasing them to get the job done as they promised. What looks good in my kitchen/first floor is what they didn't do. They had to subcontract pros to redo my ceiling, tile, dry walls and painting because what they did was the job of an amateur not a professional. As a homeowner I can do a better job. Bad experience overall. Today 01-21-2018 after 6 months I noticed that all cabinet doors that they built are cracked because they used green wood that was not ready to be used.

KBR Kitchen & Bath

We had totally remodeled our bathroom - we merged two adjacent bathrooms and completely updated it. The entire crew was very courteous and professional. They cleaned up every day and we had absolutely no issues with their work. The work was extensive and a 3-4 man crew finished in about 6 weeks. It would have been even faster if we had picked out our fixtures ahead of time but we made some changes midway through the work. We had some very specific requests and they customized everything for us. We wanted floating vanities, heated floors (which are amazing), a niche above the sinks, a separate room for the toilet and floor to ceiling tiles. KBR and Armagan were very accessible and friendly, they gave us many options and for the work done, the cost was very reasonable. We will definitely be calling them again!

Michael Nash Design Build & Homes

My bathroom, which dated from the 1960?s, was in dire need of renovation. Working in teams, Michael Nash completely remodeled my bathroom. First, they completely gutted my bathroom, removing everything. They then began rebuilding the bathroom, from top to bottom. New walls, ceiling, tile flooring, etc. They replaced the shower pan and rebuilt the shower stall with ceramic tile. They put in a new granite counter top, new toilet and sink, recessed lights. They performed all the necessary plumbing and electrical work. I wanted a storage closet next to the shower and they biult a custom closet to meet my needs. They removed all debris in a timely manner. I was extremely pleased with the final result. The workers were professional, courteous, and did quality work.

Michael Nash Design Build & Homes

Our rental home in Burke, Va was built in 1978 and still had it's original bathrooms. Since our experience with Michael Nash has spanned more than 20 years, we turned to them. This long relationship has endured because we have found that we can rely on their work ethics, excellent quality of work, pricing, and personal attention. Both the main floor hall bathroom and the 2nd floor master bathroom were totally gutted and renovated. Since the bathrooms are relatively small, attention had to be placed on every detail to visually open up the area. Design creativity such as wall inserts, floor to ceiling tiles, glass and unexpected mirrors, and cabinetry details achieved this. One was completed before the other was begun to insure we were not inconvenienced. The results were smashing! Yes, we will use them again and again.

Porcelanosa

We were remodeling 3 bathrooms and a powder room, and sourced most of the items through Porcelanosa. The price/quality is excellent. Porcelanosa provides high-end European kitchen and bathrooms for a fraction of the cost of similar Italian, Swiss or German purveyors, particularly during its sale, but even without the discounts. Their look is very sleek and modern. We tiled our floors and also did floor-to-ceiling tiles in our bathrooms. Having looked at other tile providers, I must say that I found Porcelanosa's to be by far the most attractive. It has almost been a year since the renovation and we are extremely pleased with the results. So much so that we recently went back to Porcelanosa to purchase items for our final/4th bathroom which we will remodel next month.

My wife and I had a very bad experience working with Julio Guzman who owns this business, and we want to share our story with others in the hope that anyone reading this review might be able to save themselves a lot of hassle and money by deciding to work with a different general contractor. We purchased our house a little over a year ago and have worked with multiple contractors since that point. Fortunately, we have had really great experiences with these other contractors and I’ve been able to write some glowing reviews about them. However, Julio is the first contractor that we worked with and working with him was a completely different story. We had Julio come over to give us an estimate to do a variety of relatively small home improvement projects shortly after we purchased our house. He came across as very professional at the time and discussed how he took great pride in his work, didn’t cut any corners, and ultimately wanted to make sure the customer was extremely satisfied with the final product. What we experienced after deciding to work with him was quite different, to say the least. The easiest way to convey our experience is through a series of bullets discussing some of the work his team did on various projects: • Installed soffit ceiling in covered porch – This was the first project that Julio's team worked on in October (shortly after we purchased the house). It looked great at first and we thought we were getting off to a really great start with his team. Unfortunately, by the following summer the ceiling began to sag in multiple places. I first reached out to Julio about this problem in June via text, asking him to come over and fix the ceiling. He said he would come over to take a look. In the weeks that followed, he never came despite multiple attempts to reach out to him via text and calling. Six months later the ceiling started to actually fall. I texted him saying this was now an emergency situation and that I needed him to come over immediately. He apologized for the extremely lengthy delay and said he would have someone come over ASAP, but three weeks later he still has not had anyone come over to our house, and at this point we have given up on him. We have since done some reading on the subject and come to find out that the soffit his team installed was too long between supporting beams. • Basement ceiling tiles – The basement ceiling was sagging in a few locations. Julio said that he would add the proper supports to pull up the ceiling in these areas. What his team did was to use some random copper wire to hang these portions of the ceiling (I have since redone this work with proper supports). Unfortunately, they neglected to wash their hands before installing this wire and so our ceiling tiles were left with dirty hand prints on them. These are the type of tiles that are made out of some type of particle board, so it's not possible to completely remove stains from them. In general, we found that his team left a mess behind them wherever they went. It appears that they also managed in the process to damage some of the boards themselves and the thin beams that hold them up. • Attach hose from washing machine to bathroom sink – We have a large utility tub sink sitting next to our washing machine. The water from the washing machine drains into the sink, but the hose was not secured to the sink. We asked him to secure the hose to the sink. Again, his team used random pieces of copper wire to attach the hose to the handles of the sink. The copper wire not only looked unprofessional, but the way the hose was attached also meant that we could not use the handles of the sink to turn the water on and off. Again, I had to redo this project to make it both reasonably aesthetically appealing and for practical purposes to be able to use the sink. • Install ceiling fan in upstairs bathroom – After the fan was installed, we noticed the fogging in the bathroom had not noticeably improved. To test this out, we placed a piece of paper over the fan while it was running and there was no suction. I went up to the roof to look at what had been done and they had installed the vent piping so that it was laying on the ceiling for half the length of the house and eventually vented out one of the side gables. However, the piping was very long and coiled in some areas, so no steam was escaping. I told Julio that the fan needed to instead vent though the top of the roof directly above the fan and asked him in November to have someone come over to address the situation, as well as finish up the remaining jobs on the initial list we had worked out with him (we eventually gave up on having him address some of these other jobs, since it was taking too long). He said he would have someone come over to install a vent in the roof shortly. After subsequent follow-up requests, he did not have anyone come to the house to install the vent until I let him know at the end of January that I had contacted some other contractors to come install the vent. Suddenly he had someone at our house pronto. The new vent was installed about 10 feet away from the fan. This led to more problems, since they simply taped the vent pipe to the new vent, but since it was hanging, the tape came undone and the piping fell. Fortunately, I noticed a few drops of water coming down the vent, so I went up to the attic again and figured out what had happened. I also saw a large puddle of water sitting on top of the insulation in a separate part of the attic where the old pipe had been laying. I think that when they moved the old pipe, water that had been sitting in the pipe fell out and they simply left it sitting there. I was extremely frustrated by the situation at this point and asked Julio to come back over to address the problem. He did improve the connection so the hose wouldn't fall, although I've made some additional improvements since that point, including hanging the piping in multiple places with supports, so it is not flat on the ground until it reaches the location of the vent. This took quite a bit of work and I'm sure the air still does not vent as well as it would if the vent had been installed directly over the fan as it should have been. • Install kitchen handles – The new kitchen that had been installed prior the house being put up for sale did not have kitchen handles installed on the cabinetry. We did not mind this, since it allowed us to install the handles of our choosing. We purchased the handles and had Julio’s team install them. The team damaged a few of the handles they installed, and did not tell us up front, additionally one of them was not installed properly, which I later ended up addressing myself since I could not get him to come over. • Temporary fix for front steps – The concrete front steps to our house had slanted over the years and developed gaping holes underneath. We asked Julio to patch the holes and fill some of the cracks as a temporary solution until we could save up some money to have a new walkway and stairs installed. His team did patch the stairs, but the job was not finished well. There were still a number of gaps and it looked very much unfinished. They did come back to fill in some of the gaps, but the work looked very unprofessional (e.g., no effort was made to smooth out the sides of the steps and smooth them out with the existing concrete to at least attempt to make it look like part of the same structure). The concrete they used was also a completely different color from the existing concrete, so the new concrete looked totally out of place. • Billing – In February I asked Julio for a finalized statement of the work that had been completed and his final estimate of the costs. I even sent him a spreadsheet with my understanding of the work that had been completed to help him (remember that we ended up doing some of the jobs ourselves since it was taking too long for him to address them). It took him until April 20 to send me an invoice. Although we had numerous disappointments in his work and I asked him for a couple of small discounts, which he did not agree to, we still promptly paid the bill in full. There is more that I could write, but this review is already quite long. In short, we felt that we pretty much threw our money out the door on Julio who completely dropped the ball on us time after time. Obviously, this type of situation is completely disappointing and unsettling for new home owners. There is nothing we can do about the situation now except warn other prospective clients to stay away from this contractor. On the brighter side, we have since had the opportunity to work with a number of other contractors in the area who, in our experience, have done terrific work and have not hesitated to address any concerns (including concerns much less serious than those shared above) we have raised in a very timely fashion.
