What a team! No more popcorn ceiling. Ken and his team removed the old popcorn ceiling and replaced. We had new crown molding added and couldn't be more pleased with the attention to detail when painting. Our kitchen is now more open, as the entrance was increased by 3 feet. Once again Ken and his team have exceeded all of our expectations! Thank you Ken!

I had this contractor out to give me an estimate. First, the guy showed up 30 minutes late then told me he would get me an estimate via email the next day. I never received it so I followed up via email a week later. It is now two weeks later and I have heard nothing back regarding the project. No phone calls, no emails, nothing. If you are looking for responsiveness, I would not select this company.

Found Mr. Mundo as Joes Painting Company in the Pennysaver. Hired him because o damage to my ceiling in the garage, joints were not taped when drywall was installed. Ceiling had been covered with a popcorn coating and there were lines where the drywall joined that were not taped. Hired to remove the old popcorn where the lines were cracking, tape and respray to cover the lines, about 10 feel all together. The repaired sections were very obvious, lacking texture of the popcorn when he finished, he said it would match when it dryed and the texture would be fine. It has never matched and the lines have reappeared, it appears the joints were not taped again, just sprayed over. I have called Mr. Mundo many times, at first he agreed to return and correct his work, but he never showed. Now he will not answer the phone and never calls me back when I leave a message. I did get him by using another persons phone last week, again he said he would be here and again he didn't call or show. He keeps changing his company name and has left me with a messed up ceiling.

Working with Elite absolutely exceeded mine and my husband's expectations. We hired them to remodel an outdated 1960s addition to our house, complete with beadboard, popcorn ceiling and an indoor grill. Ken and Ana paid very close attention to what I was asking for and along with their team gave us an exceptional end result. The room is absolutely gorgeous. We couldn't be happier. Everyone at Elite was a pleasure to work with and we will be using them for additional remodeling in the future. I highly recommend Elite.

ADM Contracting renovated my kitchen to include removing drywall and flooring, re-installing new drywall, painting, installing cabinets, removing old popcorn ceiling and installing new ceiling. Professional, prompt, kept me informed through the entire process, and gave a fair price. I have referred Dennis and ADM Contracting to many other people. 100% Satisfied with the quality of their work!!

The work took longer than originally specified, though this was the fault of another vendor, not DMV. DMV performed the work in a thorough and conscientious manner. The bathroom is exactly what I wanted: the marble tile is lovely and the installation of all fixtures was done promptly and correctly. The apartment looks so much fresher and more modern with the popcorn ceiling removed and repainted, as does the whole apartment with a new coat of paint. A special thanks for the professional services of: Cemmy, Javier, Maynor, Grover, Orlando,Eduardo and Primo.

I am bit of a perfectionist, so the fact that I?m so pleased with the work of DMV means a lot. They were professional, helpful, clean, creative and efficient and the bathroom looks fabulous. The products are higher grade (Kohler). Even when we struggled with decisions, Oscar was there to nudge us in the right direction. If, during the process, I noticed something I forgot or did not like, the crew would contact Oscar and he would call within the hour. A couple of times, they changed the item on the spot. The same guys would show up around 8:00 in the morning and work until 5 or 6 every night. In less than 3 weeks, our master was ready to show all our friends. I looked at 5 companies and DMV was the best price and I?m so glad I choose them. I loved that it was so easy to pick out our products. I would recommend DMV to anybody and have been doing so every chance I get.

Jose Amaya Remodeling LLC

We hired Mr. Amaya and his team to provide renovation upgrades & home repairs. Mr. Amaya is technically competent, personally reliable, thorough and the prices for his labor clear and fair. Mr. Amaya completed a variety of work including removing the popcorn from the ceiling and painting all the interior walls and ceilings. He also refinished the kitchen cabinets, installed cabinet hardware and completed smaller jobs such as light carpentry and wood floor repair. Mr. Amaya and his team were always courteous and took the time to answer questions accurately and completely. We would recommend hiring Jose for home remodeling jobs.

Matthews Construction & Design LLC

I could not be more pleased! To me, the project seemed a bit daunting—tearing out the original 1980s bathroom (all the way to the studs), and creating a new one that maximized the available space. The company's owner, Brian Matthews, was extremely helpful and knowledgeable during every step of the process: providing a same-day estimate, very patiently answering my (many) questions, and always available to discuss any aspects of the project. Matthews Construction's cost was at the higher end of the estimates I received. But (after coming off of a *very* traumatic kitchen remodel experience) I was adamant about wanting the best contractor I could afford. After meeting and speaking with Brian, I felt confident that their work was going meet my high standards of quality. And it did! Brian assisted me in the bathroom design and in selecting new fixtures—either meeting at the store to offer input or directing me to a local vendor when I wanted to shop by myself. The Matthews Construction's work crew was always prompt, worked extremely hard (in the heat of summer), kept me well informed, and was very open to my questions and input during the process. (The installer did a particularly AMAZING job laying the wall tile and slate flooring.) As frequently happens with home improvements, the new bathroom took a bit longer than was originally projected (a week was lost waiting for a replacement for a cracked bathtub), but the results *more* than made up for it. As I said initially, I could not be more pleased: my new bathroom is BEAUTIFUL!! (Honestly, I can't stop smiling every time I walk past it.) In fact, I'm already looking forward to my next project with them. Thanks!

It went well. They started soon after we signed the contract and the work did not drag on very long although there were some delays while they waited for materials to arrive. Generally, the work was done quickly and efficiently. Contract supervisor was responsive and helpful. The contractor gave me some good ideas and referred me to good suppliers of cabinets and tile. I am happy with the job. Only complaint: they left some building materials on my balcony and have procrastinated picking it up.

Advance Construction Concepts

I had hired a different contractor to remodel master bathroom. The quality of the tile work in the master bath, which included the shower enclosure, bathroom walls, and floor was simply terrible, from this original contractor. The floor began to fail after several days, with grout between tiles crumbling and tiles shifting under pressure. The original Contractor could not come up with acceptable remediation plan. Contacted Advance Construction Concepts and they agreed to replace the tile floor, immediately, over the weekend. Top quality installation job, and excellent service. I only wish I had started out with them. I was so impressed that I got them to remodel my basement. The work they did installing drywall in my basement went very quickly--however the installation crew was not managing the dust effectively. When I complained about this, the contractor replaced the crew and brought in someone exceptionally meticulous. The end quality of the work was very high, but there was one corner by the stairs that did not get painted or trim, I guess because it had been covered with plastic, and they forgot about it. I didn't complain about it because I had carpet installation scheduled and did not want to mess up the logistics of that. I regarded it as a minor quibble since I did not point it out.

Kenny gave us the lowest price when we looked for bids for the ceiling work to be done in our new home. He was very accurate about how much materials would cost in addition to giving us a very reasonable quote for labor. I felt that I could communicate with him whenever I needed to and he was always responsive. He made sure all work was done to our liking before receiving final payment. I'll likely hire him again for more work in the future.

Scott was truly remarkable from start to finish. I bought my first home & needed a lot of work done before I moved in. I only had a week to get it all done & he had a team of people there getting it done. It looks beautiful & I get compliments from everyone. Plus his prices were a lot cheaper! He is also a delight to work with & gets back to you in a timely manner!!

Omar's General Contracting
5.0
It was a lot of work, and his team was incredibly professional and hardworking. Of course, we started the project with a more modest list, but I started getting ideas while they were in the house. Omar was accommodating as I added new work to the job, and he was reasonable on price. The quality of the work was terrific; I really can't say enough about the work they did, and we've already hired them again to help with another little project in our house. I would recommend them to any friend, as I think their prices were fair, and the quality of their work was even better then I expected The team cleaned up the house each night and did a fairly good job of cleaning up their work at the end (with the exception of leaving some handprints on the walls). Overall, the guys were very polite and respectful, and I trusted them in my home. My only complaint was that Omar was often late for our consultations. If he said 8-8:30, you could bank on him being there around 8:40-8:45. To his credit, he never missed an appointment, and once I realized the trend, I adjusted my plans accordingly, and it worked out. Of course, I would have preferred him to be there during the window we agreed upon, but I thought that was a minor thing compared to all of the good that came with working with Omar and his team. Lastly, Omar's assistant, Wilber, was very responsive to my calls/emails, and I think she's an invaluable member of their team.

Cherry Hill Cabinetry

Cherry Hill was recommended to me by a coworker who was very happy with the kitchen they renovated in his home. After receiving several quotes I hired Cherry Hill to renovate my kitchen and couldn?t be happier with the results. Going into the project I had an idea of what I wanted, but Meredith came up with a great design adding the touches that I wouldn?t have thought to. I have a small kitchen and Meredith helped to maximize the space for storage and function. One of my favorite features is how they install outlets on the underside of cabinets, and move switches out of the way so that the tile remains free of cutouts (I now notice this in every kitchen I see!). Craig and Meredith were great to work with, they were quick to respond to any questions I had, kept me updated throughout the process, and most importantly, the project was completed within both budget and timeline. Their crew is also top notch. They do fantastic work, are professional and pleasant. They were on time everyday to begin work and cleaned up before they left. I highly recommend them for any project. I plan to renovate a bathroom next year and I will be calling Cherry Hill Cabinetry for that work too!

I spent about $3500 on the work. He was prompt, worked long days and got things done on time. The quality of the tiling and painting and everything was really good. The quality of the woodworking and railing was average because there were a few flaws with the railing.

Solid Work Contracting

After Vic built our deck, we couldn't wait to get him to do some other projects in our house. Since we were completing the basement remodel at that time, we decided to hire Vic to put in a basement bathroom. He did such an excellent job, we decided to also ask him to remodel our two other bathrooms. We couldn't be more pleased with the results. From bathroom fan installation, through popcorn ceiling removal, tile installation, and all the way to accessories, Vic listened to what we needed done and made it happen. I think one of the defining moments came when we saw him reinforce one of the walls with additional studs in order to prevent it from wrapping in the long run. If he had skipped this step, we would have never known. Seeing him pay attention to the long term concerns shows that he cares about the quality of his services and that he takes deep pride in his craftsmanship.

Michael Nash Design Build & Homes
5.0
In addition to our powder room and kitchen remodel, they also put all new floors on most of the first floor , stained the stairs and railing to match the floor and updated our 1970's family room by taking down the paneling and popcorn ceiling and putting up new drywall and recessed lighting. They also put new ledger stone over our fireplace to the ceiling which matched the kitchen backsplash. They painted the whole room as well. We chose Michael Nash because we liked the fixed price aspect of going with a company that would do it all from top to bottom and manage the whole project without any subcontractors. We were not overwhelmed by the design choices since we had a designer sit down with us in the show room and go through it step by step. All the small touches were performed by Michael Nash so we did not have to worry about it. The quality is extremely good. The reason we give a B for punctuality is because you do have to be on a waiting list to get your project done since they have so many in the pipeline due to their quality work and reputation.

KBR Kitchen & Bath
5.0
We are thrilled with our new apartment and KBR’s work. KBR remodeled our apartment, which included removing a wall to create an open-concept living room & kitchen. After completely tearing out our 90-year-old, uneven flooring and installing a level and rigid sub floor, KBR installed beautiful Brazilian Cherry hardwoods in the living room and bedroom and elegant porcelain tile in the kitchen and foyer. They re-designed an existing closet in the living room and added a new closet in the foyer. Additionally they removed 1970’s popcorn ceilings, installed recessed lighting throughout, and painted the entire apartment. KBR’s workmanship is excellent and every single person we worked with was professional, responsive, and accommodating. We had been planning a remodel for several years and had visited many showrooms and spoken with several design-build companies. We seriously considered 3 different companies. When we first began talking with KBR we had a good idea of what we wanted. Our designer was Baha and of the individuals we worked with at these three companies, Baha was the most receptive to our needs and ideas. He helped us put the finishing touches on our rough design and was our main point of contact throughout the project. Of the three companies we seriously considered, KBR and one other were competitive on price. Baha was one of the main reasons we went with KBR. KBR also stood out because of their willingness to go the extra mile. One of the three companies we considered was perhaps the most established and well known in the DC area. However, they were not willing to be directly responsible for extras such as the flooring throughout the apartment, painting or the closet work. We would have needed to hire other contractors for that work. KBR’s willingness to provide more than just the kitchen remodel made our lives much easier by not having to coordinate with several different contractors. Beyond their willingness, KBR truly listened to us and demonstrated their interest in understanding the elements of our remodel that were most important to us, even if these were not as convenient for the crew. A great example of this was their willingness to completely replace the sub-floor when other contractors weren’t willing to consider this extra step. A few even maintained that installing new flooring over a 90 year old, unstable floor would be the best approach despite our insistence that this would not be the case. The actual construction went as smoothly as could it could have gone. The construction team led by Ruben and project manager Cemil, was prompt and respectful. We live in a condominium and this team followed all the rules. They communicated well with our general manager and other staff. Our neighbors commented on how nice the workers were. The neighbors were especially impressed by the fact that on trash removal days, KBR put down plastic protective sheeting all the way down a hallway that runs the entire length of the building (almost a whole city block) to protect the carpets. This is something that no one remembers any other contractor doing. It should go without saying that no remodeling job of this scope goes entirely as planned. Something unexpected will always come up. KBR was exceptional in handling any hiccups. For example, when measurements indicated that the island counter stone was too large to fit in the elevator, KBR immediately contacted us and offered 2 options. One was to fabricate the counter in 2 pieces, which would leave a seam in the island. The second was to bring on an additional worker to help carry the island counter up 4 flights of stairs. We chose the second option. In our previous experience dealing with contractors, often we felt that decisions would be made without this important communication, resulting in unexpected surprises like an unwanted countertop seam. KBR proposed a time frame that we thought was overly ambitious given the age of our building and having experienced surprises in an earlier bathroom renovation. We were pleasantly surprised when they finished on schedule. One other person that we would like to mention is Tracey in the Fairfax showroom. She was the first person I talked to on the phone. She was friendly, showed an interest in our project and worked with me to find a good time for the initial visit with Baha. And she provided helpful advice, such as suggesting hardware for our cabinets that work much better than the typical ones we almost chose. Obviously, we recommend KBR without any reservations and would use them again in a heart beat.
