"Jim and his partner were the best! They were prompt, professional, and personable. They came out in the afternoon for an estimate and, fortunately for us, were able to come out the next morning to do the work. They made sure to do exactly what we asked of them, and they made sure we were satisfied with their work. They cleaned up all of the cuttings and even cleaned up a couple of things that weren't a part of the job. We had huge thorns in one of the trees, but that didn't deter them. We could not have been more pleased. We had two more estimates, and they beat out one by 66% and the other by about 40%. Very reasonable! We will definitely use Wyoming Tree Service again and highly recommend to anyone. Thanks again to Jim and his buddy!"

"I had received quotes up to $4000.00 to cut down 2 trees. I saw Corey and Ryan cutting down some trees down the street and asked for a quote. They came over right away and I was very happy to receive this quote. Ryan is the certified arborist and saved a tree that I thought I was going to have to cut down. They did a great job and cleaned up good when they were done. I would highly recommend their service and will use them again if need be."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Palm trees will not regrow from a stump once the tree has been cut down. This type of tree is unique because the root and stump system will slowly decay after the tree is gone, unlike other species that can regrow. That’s why it’s preferable to remove dead or decaying palm tree stumps quickly as they can become an eyesore and don’t offer future growing potential.

Sudden oak death and oak wilt are different diseases. Oak wilt first shows up in tree leaves while sudden oak death affects the branches and trunk. However, as symptoms in both can overlap, it’s best to consult a professional arborist tree expert for a proper diagnosis and development of a treatment plan.

A tree branch should start to form roots in about three months. It can take about a year for a tree branch to develop roots strong enough to go in the ground. For best results, start several branches because, no matter how closely you follow instructions, they won’t all form roots. Compost any that aren’t thriving.

Removing tree stumps is a dangerous and complex job that requires a high level of expertise. Many landscapers specialize in general lawn care and maintenance. But, some may have the proper licensing and qualifications needed to safely remove tree stumps. In most cases, though, landscapers will refer you to a local tree removal or stump grinding company.

There are several methods to hollow out a tree stump, and the best one depends on your tools, experience, and priorities. Common methods include using a chisel and hammer, a chainsaw, or burning.

  • Chisel and Hammer: This is often considered the easiest approach for those with limited tools or experience, though it is the most time-consuming.

  • Chainsaw: Using a chainsaw is the fastest method, but it comes with significant safety risks, especially for inexperienced users.

  • Burning: This can be an effective method, but it is not recommended unless you can first drill holes into the stump. Without holes, the stump will be difficult to light and may not burn completely through.

A power drill with at least a ⅜-inch diameter bit can make the job quicker and easier, regardless of the primary method. While you can use a chisel or chainsaw without a drill, it will require more time and effort. Always wear protective goggles and thick gloves, as splinters are an inevitable risk.
